Please comment on the emerging scientific data that indicate certain unbridled human activities --- over-propagation of the species, Homo sapiens, over-consumption of limited resources, and continuous increase of over-production/distribution capabilities --- could soon precipitate the unnecessary extinction of biodiversity, the irreversible degradation of the environment and, perhaps, the serious endangerment of humanity. Thank you.

I am new to blogging, I just searched for blogs on Overpopulation.  I should have said Human Overpopulation because many of the answers had to do with cats and dogs.  I am very sorry to see that your blog has received little attention, since I believe it concerns the greatest problem facing mankind.  Thank you for your effort.
If I might make a suggestion, I believe that your blog needs and update.  A tie in to global warming would increase the interest, I believe.  I think it might also be relevant to connect the violence in the world to a symptom of ungovernability of a population grown out of control.
I write lots of letters to the editor of local and national newspapers, always on the subject of human overpopulation.  I get favorable comments when I have included some action that should be taken, like "Empower women to control their own fertility." "Stop at two."
Thank you again for your blog.  I hope that more people find it.

    Dear Benjamin Napier,

There is one thing I would like to add now, based upon your comments above.

My thought has to do with human self-awareness and its relationship EITHER to the divine OR to the natural.  Personally, I have always been made just a bit uncomfortable by what so many people do when they insist upon what looks to me like posing a false dichotomy.

It is not apparent to me nor do I believe that "the divine" and "the evolutionary" are separate and, therefore, to use a term of art from psychology, need not be perceived as SPLIT.

    Thanks always for your comments.

    Dear Benjamin Napier,

You are kind to comment here on this blog.  As you can see, my efforts as an individual blogger do not attract much attention.  Even so, every communication on the subject of the potentially profound implications of the current scale and determinable, estimated growth of absolute global human population numbers  could be helpful....or not, I suppose.  Who can say?  I remain hopeful.

There is nothing that you report above with which I can argue.  I agree with all of it.

If it is all right for me to do so, may I ask if it would be possible for us to communicate directly, perhaps by telephone?  What I would really enjoy is an opportunity to speak with you.  Could we talk by telephone? My home tele number is 919-967-5764.  Otherwise, if you like, leave your contact information with me.

    Thanks for your participation.

As much as some dislike the idea, humans are a biological reality. Humans are as real as the bison and as such affect the world around them. Humans are succeptible to the same physical and biological laws as other species.

Humans differ from other known biological entities in that humans are self aware. Divine or evolutionary in origin? Who knows? I end to lean toward the evolutionary.

Humans right to exist is as valid as the right of the aemoba to exist. All organisms are blessed with the need to survive. In the effort to propagate the species and avoid extinction, all biological beings cause changes in the environment around them. The flora and fauna of the soil break down the rocks and give us the soil we depend on. Photosynthetic plants consume carbondioxide and fix the carbon while release molecular oxygen that we can breathe. This process destroyed the primoidial world that existed previously.

Nothing is forever. Humans will need to adapt and leave this planet to assure long term survival. Will that guarantee our survival? Define long term. Define forever.

Your clear and incisive perspective on the runaway Human Population Bomb are crystal clear and incisive! Humans can not continue mindlessly creating more "genetic properties," while disregarding the consequences to our planetary biosphere and the children yet to come. We must exercise "Intelligeht Population Management," and learn to separate "Sex" from "Reproduction." How could any godlike intelligence think otherwise, if the destruction of our beautiful and unique Planet Earth would be the ultimate consequence of our addictions?
We manage our populations of livestockand pets, so why not realize that Intelligent Family Management is the responsibility of everyone. Less is better! Small families bring a release from the self-imposed fetters of poverty, disease, and allow choices for a better life...most especially for Women everywhere. Enlightened Leaders of all Religions and Governments need to unite on common grounds, and move ahead together into the future. Most of the problems of Civil Unrest, Unwanted Immigration, and Environmental Destruction are based on the fact that there are simply too many human bodies everywhere. Why are we, as global citizens in denial of this simple fact! Let us all resolve to work together to improve the lives of people everywhere by simply realizing that Intelligent Population Management is the basis for the survival and success of the Human Race. The alternatives of continued mindless over-breeding are quite simply, Death, Disease, and Misery for the majority of people. Each of us can begin taking a few tiny steps by simply acknowledging the problem of Overpopulation, discussing it intelligently, expressing our viewpoints to our Government and Religious Leaders, and moving together to create a legacy of brighter futures for the present and future generations!
