Feeling Happy
SELF Respect!
Demand it and you’ll get it? When you think of someone whom you respect… what type of person are they? Do they stand up for what they believe? Do they lend a hand to a fellow man? Do they have integrity? Would you say they are weak? Maybe they’d be described as strong? Do you respect this person because of who they are or what they do? Do they gain respect by the amount of “things” they may own? Do they gain your respect for the things they choose to not have? Just what causes you to respect someone?
Many times we really can not put one thing on a person that causes us to respect them. It is many different things combined that cause us to have respect for someone. Most people earn respect for being a person that shows they are genuine. Fake people rarely are able to keep the respect of others very long. It is hard to keep up a farce for too long without allowing the real person to come out. There are individuals who would rather not know the truth than to know it. They are like an ostrich who sticks its head in the sand when scared. Why would you not want to know the truth? And why would anyone rather believe a lie than to dig for the truth?
I have found that most of the time, the people I respect most are those whom respect themselves. They have to believe in themselves to be worthy of respect. I am a person who respects herself. I will never allow anyone else to make me think less of the woman I have become. I believe in myself, the decisions I make and when I look in the mirror I am not scared of the woman I see looking back at me. I respect me. I love me, I am worthy of being loved. I know that anyone who takes the time to get to know me will agree that I am a woman who is as respectful of others as she can be. However, I have learned that not all people respect me, so I choose those people who I respect and who respect me. This may sound harsh, but when you’ve come up against the type of folks that do not speak the truth who have been disrespectful toward me… I see no need to continue to have the drama in my life they keep trying to stir. So I respect myself enough to say… enough is enough and I am moving you out of my life.
There have been times that someone will send me a message wanting to talk with me. Within a few minutes of talking, I know if I want to continue a conversation with them… If they become disrespectful, that’s it. Remember no one will respect YOU, unless you first respect yourself. I’ve learned that thus far in my life, and know that many more lessons will come by way. But, when all is said and done… I will not have to doubt my self worth by showing that I accept those who are not respectful of me. It’s a good feeling to know that I love myself enough to respect me.
Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for showing me that my body and mind are an extension of my soul. That I need to respect them as well as my soul and in doing this, yes, there will be people who I will not converse with. I will find that there are many who have no clue what it means to respect themselves. I pray Lord for continued strength in all that I am, all that I will be and that You guide me to where Your will takes me. Lord Thank you for my family, friends and neighbors. Be with the ones who are sick of mind or body, place your healing hands upon them Lord and let your will be done. Show those with low self respect how to believe in themselves, and how to never sell themselves short… In the name of my Savior Jesus Christ… Amen
