Learning to Love ... ME

This morning, I sit quietly enjoying the quietness around me…sipping hot coffee, waiting for the dryer to buzz so that I can fold clothes.  Chyna is sitting near me as usual, and Stormy is stalking shadows.  My morning is the only peaceful time I’ll find for hours yet to come.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

Soon I’ll head over to the parking lots to begin an all day event.  There’s racing at the track and those anxious and carefree fans will need a spot to park, tailgate and some even snooze.  I started this little venture 28 years ago, and once you start something like this it only grows.  There’s no way to close it down, someone will ultimately drive up and park.  But all in all it will be fun catching up with friends, some I have known for years and we even email back and forth throughout the year.  Some people will become new friends and I will know that God is with me when the genuine friendships are bonded.  I have been told that I am just a good ole people person.  Someone who everyone likes to talk with and I am easy to talk to, and I give God credit there.  He gave me compassion for people, he gave me humor and he’s given me the ability to know a little about lots of things so that I never have a problem carrying on a conversation.

So today…I’ll sit back for a while and watch the glorious sun rise, I’ll listen to the morning awaken here, and then I will head to the parking lot.  Without a doubt there will be the smells of breakfast, bacon frying, coffee brewing…toast, grits…yummy!  I was invited last night to meet a guy for breakfast.  I told him thank you but I’d best not.  I’ve not had a good southern breakfast like that in years!  I have the frig stocked, food bought and will wipe down the kitchen counter at Mom’s house.  She’s not there of course, but her spirit and daddy’s will always be in the house and on race days especially.  Mom loved her NASCAR. 

Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for the beautiful day that is rising.  I praise your name for all the years that I have been able to do this little business.  You have brought so many good people into my life and showed me the wonder of having friends from all over.  I pray that you’ll keep the drivers safe today as they run those powerful cars, keep the fans safe and above all Lord, the State Troopers who will be working from early this morning until late this evening.  Watch over my kids who I have working with me today, keep them out of harm’s way and I will thank you Lord, for every car that pulls into our lot and ask that you bless the people who are with us.  Give us all a smile in our hearts and Lord If someone needs to feel your love, guide me to them.  I have felt your love so many times over the last couple of weeks, and I can only stand in awe, as I feel you working through me.  Praise God.  Lord, be with the sick of body or mind, put your healing hands upon them and take the pains away.  Lord you know those that need to feel relief and I pray that you are there for them as you have been for me.  Lord, help me handle the pain that I have, give me the strength to push forward and to push the pain away.  I believe in You Lord and all the Glory You’ve blessed me with…. In the name of my Heavenly Father… Amen
