The Saturday Six
1. What do you tend to focus on the most?
A. The past.
B. The present.
C. The future as you think it will be.
D. The future as you are afraid it will be.
For right now, it's the present, reacting to what's on my plate on the moment. I think I'm finally learning to leave the past where it belongs, but I'm still not up to picturing the future.
2. Name three famous people (living or dead) whoseblogs you would like to be able to read.
Thomas Jefferson. I think he was America's Renaissance man with so many talents, such a brain and so many contradictions between words and actions. As someone with a lot of contradictions myself, I'd love to read a personal blog to see how he worked that dichotomy out.
Mary Magdalene. I know that it's trendy to be interested in Mary Magdalene right now with the success of The DaVinci Code (which I thoroughly enjoyed), but I've been fascinated with her since a Women's Studies class in college. Having been raised as a strict Southern Baptist, I had a fairly decent, though youthful, knowledge of the Bible by the time I entered college. It wasn't until this course that I realized that nowhere in the Bible does it say that Mary Magdalene was a prostitute, something I'd accepted as gospel truth my whole life. In many ways, this led to my examining what both faith and feminism mean to me and finding, what was a shocking realization at the time, that that they support each other.
Louis XIV. The Sun King attributed with saying, "L'etat, c'est moi." For him, it was true. He became king as a small child and his mother served as his regent for years. Under his monarchy, art, literature, architecture thrived. France regained lost lands through multiple wars, and a huge religious persecution of Protestants ran through the land. He built up a prosperous economy and in his later years endebted his kingdom, paving the way for the French Revolution that cost his grandson his head and the Reign of Terror that followed. Another contradictory character with another great mind.
3. How long have you lived in your current residence? How much longer do youintend to live in the same place?
I've been here 7 years now, and have no idea how much longer we'll live here.
4. Take the pointless quiz: What color is your heart?
Your Heart is Yellow. Now this is a silly quiz, give me an explanation at least.
5. How many of AOL's journalers have you met in person? How many have you spoken with by telephone?
I haven't met with any in person or over the phone.
6. RAPID FIRE Question #2: Who or what is the most annoying:
a) Politician -- George Bush/Dick Cheney It's a tie.
b) Late Night Talk Show Host -- Conan O'Brian
c) Color -- Neon Yellow
d) Habit -- Nose Picking
e) Female Celebrity -- Anne Coulter
f) Male Celebrity -- Rush Limbaugh
g) Television Show -- Fear Factor
h) Commercial -- any Burger King commercial with that gross
plastic headed king
i) Fashion Statement -- tongue piercings
j) Word -- bling Please, even here in the sticks, that's over.
You know where to find it -- Patrick's Place.

I wonder about the answer too. Why that color? I like your answers.

I loved your answers. :) I also love Thomas Jefferson, and now you've got me interested in Mary Magdalene. I was surprised at how alike our thoughts were on what is most annoying. :) I am enjoying your journal and will be back.... thanks for visiting mine and leaving a lik so I could find ya. :)
