Governor Spitzer has withdrawn his plan for diver's licenses for illegal immigrants.  Could Hillary Clinton stand alone.  Of course not, even though she approved of the plan before the debate, and tried to "clarify" her position after the debate by again saying she was for such driver's licenses.  By the way, Edwards and Obama seem to be clearly saying that they ARE for driver's licenses for illegal immigrants, under the right circumstances, even though they would oppose Spitzer's plan.  There is no question that ALL THREE are for AMNESTY--for a LIBERAL accptance of illegal immigrants without very harsh restrictions or effective border enforcement.  Their problem with the Bush/Kennedy "comprehensive" amnesty plan is that it was too HARSH on illegal immigrants, and TOO RESTRICTIVE on the "path to citizenship".

Back to Hillary Clinton.  She put out a statment today or yesterday that she is AGAINST driver's licenses for illegal immigrants.  She gave no explanation as to WHY she is now against that--much less why she could not even answer the question either in the debate or over the past two weeks. 

It is obvious that Hillary Clinton has decided to put this behind her the way Edwards and Obama tried to finesse the whole issue in the last debate (as Hillary flailed miserably making it so obvious she was trying to DECEIVE). 

By just coming out AGAINST driver's licenses for illegal immigranats, while still talking like they should have them, Hillary Clinton expects to confuse the issue the way she meant to in the debate.  The idea, as the idea is for most Democrats on this issue is to DECEIVE as to where Democrats stand.  That is because Democrats know that the public does not like where they stand. 

So Democrats will say they oppose SPECIFIC "rights" for illegal immigrants; will talk about a "comprehensive immigration bill" (translation: amnesty, but Democrats will say that the bill will secure the borders without sayig how); and will otherwise blame the immigration mess on the failure of the Federal Government to enforce the law (even though Democrats have BLOCKED enforcement of laws against illegal immigration at every turn).  See previous entries in this blog.
