"Americans are likely to get another mild winter this year, and 2007 is on track to be the warmest year the Northern Hemisphere has seen since record-keeping began."

The above is the AOL summaryof today's AOL featured story on "global warming".  Note the misleading juxtaposition of a predicted mild winter for Americans (using "another", even though last winter was NOT "mild") and a NORTHERN HEMISPHERE alleged "warmest year."   There is a previous entry in this blog, under the heading "Lies, Damn Lies, and Statistics" showing how this type of statistic is used to LIE.  "Records" mean little or nothing in evaluation temperature TRENDS, and the magnitude of same.   NOte the artful limitation of this data to NORTHERN HEMISPHERE, when this is clearly NOT the "warmest year" for the world in general or the United States in particular (for which it is not a particularly warm year at all).

This is merely PROPAGANDA (again,  my entry on "Lies, Damn Lies, and Statistics" months ago in this blog as to how these statitstical "records" are used to LIE, which is especially true when you emphasize "records" which fit the propaganda and de-emphasize the data which does NOT fit the propaganda--such as comparison of UNITED STATES temperatures).

1936 REMAINS the warmest year on record for the United States. Again, note the subtle shift here. The reference is to the NORTHERN HEMISPHERE (not the world, or the United States).

As Michael Crichton illustrated in the footnoted charts in "State of Fear", there REMAINS no consistent warming trend in U.S. temperatures since 1880. 2007 is NOT an exception. It will NOT be even close to a record warm year for the U.S. (hence the reference to "Northern Hemisphere"). In fact, 2007 was an average to COOL winter for the U.S. (since 1880). Last winter and spring was NOT a warm one for the U.S.

Q.E.D.: meaningless PROPAGANDA.

Following is an import of aan AOL comment under the above referenced story, and my reply, to illustrate just how far off beam the RELIGIOUS FANATICS of the religion of "global warming" are willing to go:

"Among those facts are the fact that CO2 levels, for millions of years, have been the primary causes of increased temperature"

Even assuming this were true (it is not, and the data is not NEARLY complete enough to even make this claim), you would have a SCOOP if man was producting CO2 at the age oft he dinosaurs (you do have the eimpiracal evidence of that recent archeological discovery of an ICE AGE newspaper, "The Ice Age Times", from which exclusive excerpts are quoted from time t time in this blog, as they worried about "global warming" from FIRE destroying their way of life). There is also the problem that CO2 EMISSIONS by man do not seem to track temperature changes--certainly not in the U.S., where 1936 is the warmest year on record: see again Michael Crichton's charts in "State of Fear".  CO2 emissions went up worldwide from 1940 to 1970.  World temperatures went DOWN (which is why radical environmentalists were pushing GLOBAL COOLING in 1970).

If the above were true, are we (or the Earth, as the question is not whether the Earth is generally warmer but whether man is a significant and dangerous cause of the warming), merely RESTORING the CO2 levels that have existed in the past (naturally--restoring, in other words, a HEALTHY Earth toward the conditions of the dinosaurs, when the Earth was TEEMING with life).

Trying to correlate CO2 levels with global temperatures in the past, as some scientists have tried to do (as stated, without being truly convincing), does NOT help establish the "global warming" religious faith that MAN is creating "global warming" with unnatural CO2 levels.
