Feminism, Part II

See last week's entry on feminism, with my younger daughter's comments.  As a follow up to that, here is today's IM conversation with my daughter (presented as a public service to men out there to let them know what they are up against today):

Kyla778:  I responded to your unresponsive comment by saying that, in all your complaining about what women have become today, you forget about what men have become
Kyla778:
Men have sort of gone downhill too, you know.  I pointed out that most of the people I go to school with likely can't change a tire, fix a car, or hold their own in a physical fight
Skip3366:
Oh, but it is well known that men have ALWAYS been scum.  In fact, the book, "The Girl with the Swansdown  Seat", "blamed" the excesses of Victorian England (covers on legs of sofas, and not even being able to say "legs") as an attempt by women to restrain the crudities of men (who had been really crude in prior centuries).  Of course,  women have abandoned that idea (in favor of becoming the SAME as men, including just as crude), which makes them responsible for the result.
Kyla778:
I think men are responsible for the feminist result; men can
Kyla778:
not do anything anymore
Kyla778:
so what are we to do ? we take over.
Skip3366:
I have come around to the view that women are necessary to restrain the crudity of men, while men were responsible for restraining the VICIOUSNESS of women (like, for example, not giving them the vote).  Both sexes have abandoned their responsibilities.
Kyla778:
Well, what we're left with now are men who are in fact very crude, but not manly.  And I'm not even talking about being chivalrous; it's just basic stuff that they used to know how to do.
Kyla778:  And they used to all go to war; now that's such an anomaly.  Obviously especially among my crowd at the law school.

As an addition to the IM, I would note that SOME men have bought the idea tham men shoud adopt feminine values, such as "communitcating" and acting like wimps, on the theory that such is what women want (as if women knew what they wanted).   In the end, the whole thing is the result of the FALSE (objectively) feminist ideal that men and women should be the SAME.   This is objectively false, because it is a scientific fact that men and women are NOT the same.  Thus, to say that they SHOULD be the same is merely a denial of reality--a sign of insanity.

You misunderstand a very basic thing about feminism in this post.

"Of course,  women have abandoned that idea (in favor of becoming the SAME as men, including just as crude)"

Some women are crude and vulgar, it's true.   However, feminism does not aim to make women the same as men.  It aims for us to be viewed as EQUAL TO men, and to be treated as such by business, society and government.  However, being equal to, and the same as, men, are totally different.  Most feminists, especially the ones of your daughters generation, know quite well these differences.

"I would note that SOME men have bought the idea tham men shoud adopt feminine values, such as "communitcating""

I find it very interesting that you put "communicating" in quotes.  Why is that?  Do you not believe men are capable of communicating?  I mean, you're communicating with your daughter via IM in this post, and you're writing in a blog.  Apparently you value communication quite highly.  Are you then, a wimp?  My husband communicates quite well, is able to tell me what he thinks and wants and needs, he's one of the manliest guys I know.  So, I entirely dispute that communicating=wimpy.
