Veterans, Democrats, and the Media

What is the position of Democrats on soldiers and veterans?  No, I am NOT talking about veteran's benefits.  I am talking about the OPINIONS of soldiers and veterans.  Oh, come on.  You KNOW the answer to this one.

Democrats are trying to sell the idea that it is ONLY veterans who support Democrats, and/or oppose the War in Iraq, that are entitled to have an opinion.  This is the "John Kerry syndrome"--that Democrats who are veterans are worth listening to, while Republican vets are not worth listening to (or voting for, as in the cases of war heroes Bob Dole and George Bush 41).  Is this basically an EVIL attempt to make non-persons of vets who OPPOSE Democrats and/or the agenda of the media?  Of course it is.  But it is the primary tactic Democrats and the mainstream media are now using to suggest that "thinking" soldiers/vets are really on their side (despite the massive evidence to the contrary).  This is a CYNICAL attempt to make Democratic acitivist vets immune from criticism, while vets against the Democratic/media agenda don't even get heard.

Back to CNN (if you doubt the above:  You FOOL you!!!!).

What did CNN do at the CNN/YouTube DEMOCRATIC debate?  Well, it did not use the kind of confrontational questions it chose at the Republican debate.  But CN did something more fundamental, right out of the Democratic playbook.

CNN flew in a SOLDIER/VET for the DEMOCRATIC debate.  Did that soldier CONFRONT the DEmocrats, and accuse them of being anti-U.S. military?  Don't be silly.   CNN does not believe that is a "legitimate" position.  Rather, that person SUPPORTED the basic Democratic position on the War in Iraq.

Then what did CNN do at the Republican YouTube debate?  Again CNN flew in a veteran:  the gay, retired general who is part of the CLINTON campaign.  Was this a veteran who SUPPORTED the general Republican position on Iraq.  Don't be silly.  CNN does not regard that as a legitimate position for veterans to have.  The whole CNN purpose, even apart from the Clinton campaign connection, was to highlight how veterans support Democrats and oppose Republicans.

This is one of the basic Democratic Party strategies, and CNN could not have made it any more obvious that it regards itself as an arm of the Democratic Party.
