Negative Ads
As this blog has told you, the mainstream media is the PRIMARY source of negative ads (masquerading as "news") today. This is especially true with regard to VICIOUS, unfair negative ads, such as attacking a person's "character" or religion (religious bigots that eh people in the mainstream media are).
Then those lying, sanctimonious hypocrites in the mainstream media turn around and criticize "negative ads" by the CANDIATES as counterproductive, "dirty politics". Notice the really despciable underlying agenda here, by the mainstream media: "WE reserve the EXCLUSIVE right to engage in "dirty politics" to advance OUR agenda, and we will do it in ways MORE unfair and vious than any candidate would dare." This is actually a POWER GRAB by the media, at the very time their power is waing.
Are "negative ads" valuable, so long as they are not the vicious, unfair kind beloved of the mainstream media? Of course they.are. How else can a candidate contrast his record and positions with the record and positions of the other candidate(s), without being FILTERED throught the agenda of the mainstream media?
For example, Mitt Romney is running an ad in Iowa CONTRASTING Romney's positon/record on illegal immigration with that of Mike Huckabee. While governor of Arkansas, Huckabee SUPPORTED in state tuition for illegal immigrants, while Romney OPPOSED it as governor of Massachusetts. Now, in light of their similar present positions, that may not seem to be a major matter. However, are not the voters of Iowa entitled to KNOW this? And should a candidate be forced to rely on those sanctimonious hypocrites in the mainstream media to raise the issue? That is ridiculous. If it is a legitimate issue (as most of the SMEARS in the mainstream media are NOT), then a candidate shoudl be able to raise it without being accused of "negative" campaigning. Attacking a person's religion (see previous entry) is ture "negative" campaigning, as when the despicable, bigoted Associated Press ran a story on Mitt Romney's great grandfather being a polygaminst. Letting voters know how to distinguish you and your opponent(s) on real issues can be VALUABLE to voters.
As usual nowadays, the mainstream media comes off WORSE than the candidates. The candidates are running ads, whether called "negative" or not, abut REAL issues. The mainstream media is running negative ads, disguised as "news", PROMOTION RELIGIOUS BIGOTRY.
The mainstream media is simply beneath contempt. That is one reason why I gave the despicable AP the coveted "Flying, Fickle Finger of Fate" award--see entry earlier this week. I am going to have to deliberately diversify this award, or the despicable AP will retire the statuette.
