As an example of Terry Pratchett puncturing the absurdities of polical correctness, with the exception of "Monstrous Regiment"--his ONLY truely bad book, consider "affirmative action."

The police force of the main city on Discworld instituted "affirmative action".  That, of course, meant VAMPIRES, ZOMBIES, WEREWOLVES, TROLLS, and DWARVES joined the force.  But Pratchett's genius is exhibited by one DWARF admitted under the affirmative action program.   That dwarf was six feet plus tall, with red hair.  Yes, he was ADOPTED.   If you think this is absurd, consider that there is NO definition of who is "black" or "Native American" in this country, which does not stop this absurd reverse discrimination.  Is 1/8 Native American blood (the blood is red) enough to make you a "minority" (even though 7/8 of your ancestors oppressed the other 1/8)? 

Then there is the dwarf woman police officer (dwarf women look the SAME as men, with beards) who started a REVOLUTION by wearing lipstick, and a DRESS (too bad Pratchett did not bring a similar satiric eye toward the Big Lies of feminism in "Monstrous Regiment"). 

Then there is "Soul Music", about "music with rocks in it." 

I could go on (and what I say does not give you NEARLY the flavor of just how funny Pratchett really is--although he is PROFOUND as well as funny). 

Pratchett needs to be able to keep writing at his present level FOR THE GOOD OF TEH WORLD.  I trust he will, despite the disease (see previous entry).
