Terry Pratchett
Really disturbing news today (really more disturbing than the baseball report, which was not a surprise at all) is that Terry Pratchett has been diagnosed with "rare form of early onset Alzheimer's disease."
Terry Pratchett is one of the world's irrplaceable treasures. Despite the TERRIBLE "Monstrous Regiment" (where Prathcett, who specializes in puncturing unthinnking "political corrctness" and intellectual complacency, inexplicably bought into the feminist Big Lie that men and women are the SAME), Terry Pratchett is the best fiction writer in the world today, and has been for some time. It is not even close. Plus, Pratchett is one of the funniest writers who has ever lived.
I hope and trust, from a selfish point of view, that Prachett's disease does not affect his ability to continue to write for a LONG time.
I wish him the best. There are few, if any, other writers out there who have so enriched my life nearly as much.
