Hillary Clinton: 35 Years of Experience?
Hillary Clinton asserts that she has "35 years of experience". She doesn't, EXCEPT AS FIRST LADY.
By this standard, Laura Bush should be running for President (and the next wife of a truly popular President MIGHT run on this basis, and on the prospect of her husband continuing in office--another theme of the Clinton campaign being getting Bill back, despite the contradictory feminist message).
You say: "Hillary is diifferent than the ordinary 'wife', because she was an actual PARTNER in the various Clinton Administrations". Let us pass by the SEXISM of that one. Let us also pass on the question of whether it is really TRUE (the only iniative we KNOW about on the part of Hillary Clinton was her disastrous health care plan, which FAILED--tat is, her advocacy and direction of the effort was a complete failure).
Let us accept that Hillary was a PARTNER in the Clinton Administration. Remember the 22nd Amendment? That is the part of the Constitution that bans a President from running for a third term.
Does it not violate the SPIRIT of the 22nd Amendment to have Hillary running to CONTINUE the Clinton Administration for a third (and posslibe fourth) term? Sure it does.
This is the kind of thing that leftists usually LIKE to do: exaine the "spirit" of the Constitution, and to try to expand it to mean what they want it to mean. But we know that leftists do not really care about the Constituton, as it was written (spirit or letter). They caree about POWER and AGENDA, and simply want to USE their idiosyncratic interpretation of the Constritution to advance those things.
What is a little more puzzlig is why Clinton's OPPONENTS do not raise the 22nd Amendment, and whether the spirit of that Amendment is being violated. I guess they feel that people are so conditioned to feminism that they would reject the idea that it represents an end run aound the 22nd Amendment for a SPOUSE of a President to carry on the Administration for a third term.
