Death Penalty and Texas, Continued
"The U.S. Supreme Court is supposed to be the "highest court in the land", Texas courts are constantly evading and ignoring the rulings - are the feds powerless in regard to enforcing the rulings of the U.S. Supreme Court?"
The above comment (imported again from AOL) goes on to talk about he D.A. setting the death penalty in Texas, and asking why the feds don't enforce Supreme Court decisions in Texas--IGNORING that EVERY death penalty gets FEDERAL review in the Federal Courts. The article, of course, does NOT show that Texas is ignoring U.S. Supreme Court decisions.
Leftists LIE. They LIE routinely. They LIE often. They LIE without guilt (in a "higher" cause than truth).
It is, of curse, LEFTISTS who are continually trying to evade, and get around, the MULTIPLE U.S. Supreme Court rulings that have held that the death penalty is NOT "cruel and unusual punishment". The primary LEFTIST attempt to subvert the democratic process, AND justice, is DELAY.
EVERY death penalty case in Texas is appealed (staying any execution, whether the D.A. sets it or not). AFTER Texas appeals, EVERY person sentenced to death has a right to AT LEAST one round through the Federal Courts through writ of habeas corpus (which has turned into essentially a full blown OTHER appeal, for no good reason). All Texas has done is try to limit this WAR OF ATTRITION by death penalty opponenets, so that at least there are a minimum of FURTHER delays.
