As readers of this blog know, I have reprised the Rowan and Martin "Flying, Fickle Finger of Fate" award for outstanding stupidity each week.

This week is a tie between the disgraceful San Francisco Chronicle (for its FALSE coverage on the tiger escaping at the San Francisco zoo--see entries since Christmas, primarily under the heading "Tiger, Tiger, Burning Bright"; and the AOL member (expanded below to the entire "global warming" religon) who posted the following comment  in reply to essentially what I put in the immediately previous entry (review that entry).  This is the comment I found so laughable as to merit tying the San Francisco Chronicle, even though that newspaper truly DESERVES this award (imagine me presenting "the finger" to the newspaper):

"skip3366...the arctic is not in the southern hemisphere.. DUH"

Are leftists terminally STUPID, or am I missing a big media mistake.   The story says ANTARCTIC.  That IS in the Southern Hemisphere.  Oh well.  If "global warming" religious fanatics were smart, they would not believe in the junk in the first place.

Men and women of the San Francisco Chronicle, and AOL member representing "global warming" standards of thought in a truly outstanding manner, this award is FOR YOU (imagine presentation of statuette in form of index finger).  You DESERVE IT.

To show how truly deserving the AOL person is, here is his further comment compounding the sutpidity (while trying to deflect it with a spelling error in my prevous comment):

See the first paragraph of the story.  The antarctic (I would rather be smart than be able to use spell check) is the SOUTH POLE.  This happened SOUTH of Argentina.

You have the honor of tying with the San Francisco Chronicle for my "Flying, Fickle, Finger of Fate" award for the week (I have reprised old Rowan and Martin award).  Anyone who thinks the antarctive is in the arctic DESERVES to be linked with the FALSE reporting of the San Francisco Chronicle on the escaped tiger.   See my AOL blog, "The Maverick Conservative".

P.S.  Arctic (go back to original comment of this person trying to talk about ARCTIC melting in an ANTARCTIC story--where it IS summer in the Southern Hemisphere.   ARCTIC sea ice ALWAYS "melts" in the summer.   The melting was supoposedly more extensive this year, but that story was STRANGE.   It was strange because satellite pphotos promptly showed that the arctic sea ice REFROZE faster than normal.   We, of course, did not have satellite photos until fairly recently.   Is this whole thing about ARCTIC sea ice just a glitch in interpteting satellite photos?   NASA had PREVIOUSLY said that "global warming" had essentially NOTHING to do with the warming trend in the ARCTIC, becaue there is a NATURAL CYCLE (currents) that peridodically causes MELTING (and warming) inn the arctic.   MOST ice on the planet is locked in ANTARCTICA. That is why "global warming" people FIRST tried to say ANTARCTICA was MELTING.  It turned out that this was NOT TRUE (except for a minor part of Antarctica called the "peninsula").   Otherwise, Antarctica was getting COLDER. 

The whole North Pole could melt and it would not have a major effect on the planet (certainly not on sea level).  But there is NO indication that anything other than normal cycles is occurring in the arctic.   Scientists recently trying to actually MEAUSRE the sea ice in sthe arctic (because of this rather strange series of satellite photos first indicating "record" melting, and then indicating "record" freezing) were forced to turn back by the extreme cold.  We already KNOW that arctic air blasts have been COLD in December. 

"Global Warming" people like to switch back and forth from arctic to antarctic, as they scramble to continue to try to support their RELIGION. For example, there was a big headline this year:  "Warmest year ever for NORTHERN HEMISPHERE."  Of course, it was NOT a "record" warm year for the EARTH.  In fact, years since 2001 have remained pretty CONSTANT.  This is only about the 5th or 6th warmest year for the EARTH, and not even really above average for the U.S.  No trend.

So I stand by this award.  The AOL person, along with all "global warming" people, was trying to SHIFT the debate from what "global warming" people ONCE concentrated on:  Antarctica, to this NEW concentration on the ARCTIC (going through a NATURAL warming trend caused by currents, but seemingly freezing even more quickly than usual.  Maybe I should just give the "Flying, Fickle, Finger of Fate" award to the entire "global warming" religion.  They ALL deserve it for their constant attempt to shift the debate to whatever event seems to be occurring.  Wildfires in California?:  "Global Warming".   Antarctica getting COLDER:  look at the arctic.   Record SNOW STORMS in December:  "global warming" causing strange weather.  And so on and so on and so on.  These people ALL deserve the "Flying, Fickle, Finger of Fate" award.  They are trying to SHUT OFF DEBATE--while asserting a RELIGION rather than science (a religion flexible enough to explain EVERYTHING; which means it explains NOTHING).
