Yes, we have another TIE for the coveted "Flying, Fickle Finger of Fate" award (affectionaely known as "the Finger", represented by a statuette of an index finger).

One richly deserving co-winnter is the media, joined by its incestuous partner:  polls and pollsters.  See the immediately preceding two entries in this blog.  There have never been more deserving winners of this award (even when being originally presented by Rowan and Martin).  Imagine an award ceremony here, with the presentation of "the Finger":  "This award is for YOU--all of the media, polls and pollsters, for your performance in New Hampshire;  you DESERVE it."

In comparison, Lou Dobbs should probably be embarrassed to appear on the same stage.  Nevertheless, he deserves to be a co-winer this week for a MONUMENTALLY STUPID comment he made last night--an objective LIE.

Dobbs played a clip of President Clinton asserting that Hillary Clinton's "open borders" amnesty approach to illegal immigration was right.   Clinton (who at least is smart enough to know where the political battle lines are drawn in this country) asserted that:  "Even conservatives should want to know who these 12 million illegal immigrants are in this country, and this--amnesty type bill--is the only way to find out" (ignoring that such approach does NOT "find out", but merely gurantees an unending stream of MORE).

Well, Dobbs correctly said that ALL of the Democratic candidates are for amnesty, and are not even backing off of it, while at least SOME of the Republicans say they are not.  Bit Dobbs saved his major RANT for something else (I really can't make this stuff up).

Dobbs was MOST OFFENDED that Clinton gave CONSERVATIVES credit for OOPPSOING illegal immigration.  Dobbs asserted that conservatives FAVOR illegal immigration, and are behind the whole illegal immigration mess:  OBJECTIVELY a LIE.

In 2006, the Republican House passed an ENFORCEMENT ONLY bill to stop illegal immgiration.  It ws derailed by DEMOCRATS (and "moderate" Republicans like McCain) in the Senate.  It is clear that Dobbs has no idea what a "conservative" is in this country.  McCain is NOT a "conservative".   Even President Bush is NOT a "conservative" (you have the word of both Rush Limbaugh and myself on this).  The primary forces behind the present "open borders" movement are LEFTIST DEMOCRATS (who see illegal immigrants, and Hispanics they think are sympathetic, as Democratic, leftist VOTERS).  It is ture that some big business types (big business types are usually NOT conservatives) have jointed leftist Democrats (as Dobbs himself is saying when he says that NO Democratic candidate is for effective enforcement of our immigration laws).

WHO stopped the McCain/Keenedy/Bush "comprehensive immigration bill" (amnesty)?  It was NOT Lou Dobbs.  It was CONSERVATIVE talk radio:  Limbaugh, Hannity and the rest, who SHAMED CONSERVATIVES in the Senate into opposing their own President.  Meanwhile, DEMOCRAT Harry Reid BRAGGED that he had delievered the DEMOCRAT votes necessary to pass the bill.

It is CONSERVATIVES who have been fighting this battle most effectively.  Lou Doubbs has been fighting it, but he has a SMALL audience (in comparison).  Plus, Dobbs is UNDERMINING his own "crusade" (where he IS on the side of the angels in that crusade, but NOT in this comment).    When Dobbs BAD MOUTHS conservatives, following the standard CNN line, he is attacking his ONLY real ALLIES in what he supposedly regards as the main issue facing this country. 

When President Bush BELATEDLY proposed regulations to STOP fraudulent use of social security numbers (which would hav effectively STOPPED illegal immigrants from employment in most jobbs, as we have LONG matched names and social security numbers), it was the LIBERAL ACLU and AFL-CIO (in a major BETRAYAL of Ameridan worders) who SUED before a LIBERAL, Clinton appointed, federal judge to STOP the new regulatons (just as the letters to employers were about to go out).  These liberals did get an order STOPPING the effective new regulations.   Leftists WANT "open borders".  Conservatives do not.  Big business (NOT conservatives) sometimes does want illegal immgirants, but it was NOT even big business who is STOPPING effective actions against illegal immigrants right now.  It is DEMOCRATS and LEFTISTS.

No, it does not matter that Ronald Reagan signed the first amnesty in 1986 or so.  Even tough that was a mistake, Reagan intended that to be a ONE TIME amnesty--after which we would enforce our laws.   It is LEFTISTS who have most vehemently, and virulently, stopped us from enforcing our laws since (with help from non-conservatives like McCain and President Bush--frustrating the CONSRVATIVE Republicans inthe House from passing effective ENFORCEMTNT measures--over Democratic opposition; the Republicans in the Hoouse DID get measures passed in the House, but wer frustrated by NON-CONSERVATIVES in the Senate).

Thus, for MOUNUMENTAL SUTPIDITY, and undermining his own crusade against illeal immigration, Lou Dobbs is a deserving co-winner this week of "the Finger".
