The Maverick Conservative

See my previous "Flying, Fickle Finger of Fate" award to Lou Dobbs.  See, in addition, the immediately previous entry regarding teh way Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity abandoned conservatives in the Republican primary (until, perhaps, it was too late).

Lou Dobbs went on this RANT about conservatives being behind this illegal immigration "mess" (his word), and in favor of illegal immigration.  He did this at the same time he acknowledged that ALL of teh Democratic candidates for President basically favor "open borders" (no effective enforcement against illegal immigration).  Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity also purport to STRONGLY oppose illegal immigration, and to favor effective enforcement of the immigration laws.

Here is the ULTIMATE DECEPTION (see my previous more than FIFTY entries under the general heading of "illegal immigration deception").  If DEMOCRATS win big in 2008 we will NOT have any effective enforcement of immigration laws.  We will almost certainly get a WORSE "comprehensive immigration bill" than the Kennedy/McCain/Bush amnesty bill rejected by the American people

In other words, Lou Dobbs has made his recent reputatiion by OPPOSING illegal immigration.  Yet, by attacking conservatives, he is doing his best to insure that illegal immigration CONTINUES, and to insure that the immigration bill which he OPPOSED, or something WORSE, become law.

By the same token, Limbaugh and Hannity have essentially sabotaged the campaign of the only really strong proponent of effective enforcemetn action against illegal immigration who has a chance to win:  MITT ROMNEY.  By their coyness in the Repubican nomination process, they have made it entirely possible that McCAIN will win the Republican nomination (remember McCAIN/Kennedy?). 

This is the ultimate deception:  that any Presidential candidate other than Romney (Thompson is effectively out of the race, in my view) will stop this "establishment"/leftist push for illegal immigration NON-ENFORCEMENT.  NO Democrat will (Dobbs admits that, while sabotaging his own cause).  McCain won't.  I don't think Huckabee will (he still talks like he will not push hard on it, despite his new "strict" plan to stop illegal immigration).  I don't have any confidence that Giuliani will fight hard against the McCain approach, even though he, too, has talked fairly tough.  NONE of these people is talking like Romney, except the pretty much politically dead Thompson.

YOU out there have to realize this one thing.  If you vote for ANY Democrat, including most running for Congress, you are voting AGAINST enforcement of our immigration laaws.  Further, if Democrats get total control of the government, we WILL have an "amnesty" McCain/Kennedy type bill, only WORSE.  

But things are much worse than that.  I am morally certain the same is true if McCain gets elected President.   I believe, although I am not quite so cetain--simply because they may be somewhant trapped by their new rhetoric--that the same result (lack of effective enforcement of the immigration laws) will occur if Huckabee or Giuliani is elected President.

This really is the ultimate deception--that illegal immigration will be stopped with any of the people I have named as President:  ANY Democrat, McCain, likely Huckabee, likely Giuliani (probably somewhat more chance with Giuliani than Huckabee, who really does tend too much toward "compassionate" rhetoric). 

Any voter who does not realize his is deluding himself or herself.  Like Dobbs, Limbaugh, and Hannity, they will have only themselves to blame.
