You Are a Kook If: (Vote Fraud Edition)
This entry represents the return of my "you are a kook if" series. Entries in this series have been infrequent lately because NEW kookisms have been pretty infrequent (since the plethora of them surrounding President Bush, including the 9/11 conspiracy theories that the Bush Administration was directly involved in the 9/11 attacks), as kooks have little imagination.
Indeed, one previous entry in the "you are a kook if" series was the idea that VOTE FRAUD cost John Kerry Ohio, and the election. Yes, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is a KOOK (on this, anyway). Exit polls were even an element in the "conspiracy theories" going around on the left after the 2004 election.
Why revisit the issue?: Becacuse I heard a LOCAL (El Paso) radio program (oneof those "natural healers" who thinks the drug companies are all part of this big conspiracy--it being a characteristic of conspiracy theorists that they are open to all kinds of conspiracy theories). As a conservative, I am open to criticism of the FDA, and I have previously described how terrible and indefensible it is that we have allowed all of these big corporate MERGERS to create/expand Big Drug, Big Oil, Big Telephone, and all of the rest. But I am rational, which means I reject the loony/kooky conspiracy theories. Yes, you ARE a kook if you believe that the drug companies are out there CONSPIRING with the government to suppress curs/prevention for cancer, heart disease, etc. Good drugs and natural "remedies" may be suppressed, but it is NOT becaue of a vast conspiracy. It is because we are putting our faith into the hands of too few decision makers (the esssence of socialims, Commuinism, and the Democratic Party--where a big Federal Government is their chosen instrument to solve all problems).
I am not going to make a drug company cospiriacy to suppress "natural medicine"/"alternative medicine an official entry in my "you are a kook if:" sseries, just because I don't cpmsoder it a major kookism, and sympathize with people who are trying to fight against the "big brotherism" of constant further power grabs by the FDA.
Howeever, Ron Paul and Dennis Kucinich are claiming VOTE FRAUD in New Hampshire. This is really just an extension of the Democrat tactic of claiming vote fraud--which expanded after 2000, even though Gore lost because of alleged vote problems in DEMOCRATIC controlled areas of Florida. The manstream media has jumped on this bandwagon, at least in national elections, by being willing to highlight vote problems EVERY elction. This is, again, EVIL stuff. It is evil because it contributes to the idea that there is massive dishonesty in our elctions, taking the vote away from the people, when it is NOT TRUE.
Therefore, you ARE a kook if:
#111: you believe that there is massive vote fraud in this country--whether directed against Ron Paul, Dennis Kucinich, or Democrats in general.
Ron Paul and Dennis Kucinich attrack the kind of people who are open to conspiracy theories in the first place. Kucinich and Paul are FRINGE candidates catering to people out of the mainstream (and who distrust/dislike "the establishment").
Do I think that vote mistakes and vote fraud are impossible? Nope. In fact, I think that they are CERTAIN to occur (especially the mistakes), because HUMAN BEINGS control the process (despite the machines that make vote fraud LESS LIKELY than in years past). I DO realize that machines, while limiting one kind of vote fraud, lead to the possiblity of another kind. It will probably happen some day. I see NO evidence that it has happened on a major scale up to this point, and you ARE A KOOK if you believe the massive conspiracy theories to the contrary.
Is this kind of kook valuable? They would be, if the media/Democratic Party did not use HYPED ccomplaints about voter problems to UNDERMINE the confisdence of voters in the process. That is the EVIL here. It is like termites working at the foundation of this country. Otherwise, it might be beneficial to have some kooks looking for vote fraud under every rock. The fact that they do so may help keep everyone honest. But that is only if the media demands actual FACTS (put in proper perspective) before giving credibility to allegations. FACTS? Media? I know. It is laughable. That is why this particular kind of kook is becoming dangerous.
