Combat Veteran Killers: Special "Flying Fickle Finger of Fate" Award
The New York Times simply did a story about 121 "killings" by combat veterans of Afghanistan and Iraq. The AP, and AOL, picked up the story with the hysterical headline to the effect that "Iraq and Afghan Vets Kill 121". As my entries stated, and as was obvious, this meant NOTHING WHATEVER without perspective on how this compares with other people.
O'Reilly investigated. It turns out that this is a LESSER frequency of "killings" than occurred for NON-COMBAT VETERANS, with the same demographics, over the same period. In other words, our combat veterans are evidently LESS prone to violence than the ordinary citizen, in civilian life (a real crdit to them).
Now O'Reilly says that this story was not meant as a "hit" piece against our troops. I do NOT agree that the motivation matters. With the headline, the story was used to suggest that combat veterans are dangerous people. I KNOW that the real motivation of the story was a "hit" piece against the Bush Administration and its "use" of the military in Iraq and Afghanistan (without adequate "treatment", from the point of view the New York Times wants you to look at it, for the HORRORS that President Bush has put those combat veterans through). It is still CHARACTER ASSASSINATION of our combat veterans (not to mention our military in general). It was MEANT as an anti-military, anti-Bush Administration story, and the EVIL of this story is not changed because it was not MEANT to attack the troops themselves. That distinction is entirely too fine. Anyone seeing the healdine on AOL would think that our combat veterans are DANGEROUS to have in civilian life (rather than LESS dangerous than your couch potato neighbor). As stated in my original entries below, the way this story was done SHOWED its agenda, and the failure to put these numbers in perspective was DELIBERATE.
The judges have conferred. The DELIBERATE use of "statistics" ("lies, damn lies, and statistics" is how this blog has put it before, when the Associated Press played the same sort of game with numbers, as it has also done with SUICIDES) to LIE in this EVIL way has convinced the judges that the normal, weekly "Flying, Fickle Finger of Fate award is not sufficient (this is the award I have picked up from the old Rowan and Martin TV show, affectionately called "the FINGER").
Even though it is only January, the judges think that it is time to award the YEARLY "Flying, Fickle Finger of Fate" award, for 2008, to The New York Times, the Associated Press, and AOL. The judges can't imagine another story could be any WORSE (just as the New York Times is the worst newspaper in the UNIVERSE, and the AP the worst "news' organization, including both known and unknown planets, because it is IMPOSSIBLE to be any worse). If another story appears which is just as bad (very likely--this one happened in the first two weeks of January), the judges have determined to declare a co-winner of the yearly award for any such subsequent story(ies).
So. New York Times, AP, and AOL, THIS (prsenting "the FINGER" is for you. There could not possibly be three more deserving winners. Here are the previous blog entries showing why these winners so surely deserve this coveted award:
Are Our Troops Killers?: The New York Times and AOL Think So
In one of those stories with an agenda that permeate the New York Times, the totally despicable Associated Press, AND AOL, AOL is presently featuring an AP story about a New York Times Story (intellectual INCEST, anyone?) saying that 121 Iraq and Afghan war veterans have been involved in "killings".
It just does not get any more EVIL than this. The story (to try to magnify the number) includes ALL kinds of "killings" (DRUNK DRIVING, drownings, stabbings, with guns, etc.). Notice that it includes veterans from BOTH Iraq and Afghanistan (dirty little secret: Lefitists, including those in the mainstream media, do NOT respect the troops in Afghanistan any more than they respect those in Iraq; nor do they really like the war in Afghanistan--the "good war"--any more than they like the War in Iraq).
How many ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS have been "involved in killings" in this country? You will NOT find out from any MAJOR story in the New York Times, picked up by the despicable Associated Press, and featured on AOL.
That is because the New York Times, the AP, and AOL SUPPORT illegal immigrants. They do NOT "support our troops". Despite the boilerplate denials, leftists and the mainstream media generally DESPISE our trooops; they do NOT support our troops.
See my previous entry about Cambridge jumping on the Boy Scouts for donation boxes (near polling places) asking the public to "support our troops" with care packages. To Cambridge, this was a POLITICAL STATEMENT. A Harvard educated lawyer from Cambridge went on O'Reilly and defended Cambridge by saying the ctiy council was right: that "supporting our troops" was BAD, because it supported the War in Iraq.
This story is meant to call our troops KILLERS. Well, AOL, the AP, and the New York Tiimes may despise our troops. I DESP:PISE AOL, the AP, the New York Times, leftists, and the rest of the mainstream media that think this way.
This is NOT a "scientific" study of how to help combat veterans adjust back to civilian life. Nope. you are naive, bordering on terminally stupid, if you believe that this has anything to do with saying our troops need more "help". How many World War II veterans have been "involved" in "killings"? This is reminiscent of all of those stories about how dangerous Vietnam War veterans were. It is CHARACTER ASSASSINATION of ourtroops, and attempted propaganda against BOTH the War in Iraq and the War in Afghanistan--NOT something intended to "help" our troops.
Young males, of course, are known to be involved in more "killings" than any other group, AND in drunken driving. This story has no CONTEXT--no real reason to believe that combat veterans are any more "dangerous" than the ordinary young male--much less than military veterans who never were involved in combat.
This story is DISGRACEFUL. If I had not promised--in this blog--to stay with AOL until the last other person had left (so that someone is here to turn out the lights), I would leave AOL for this story alone. YOU should leave AOL (hastening the time when I will be able to turn out the lights). I KNOW that this is an AP story picking up a New York Times story. But AOL is just as GUILLTY. This is the type of anti-military story that AOL routinely features.
Have I held back too much again--failed to express my true feeligns about how DESPICABLE the mainstream media is? I hope not.
How many "JOURNALISTS" have been involved in "killings"? In quiring minds want to know. Merely thinking that his is a useful story to investigate, or feature as "news", makes the mainstream media EVIL PEOPLE trying to make it HARDER for our troops. I have no respect for these people (the mainstream media--not our troops, for which I have a lot of respect).
I think I held back on my feelings too much on that New York Times/AP/AOL story about 121 veterans of Iraq and Afghanistan being involved in some kind of "killing" (see last entry). Here is more:
How many COPS were involved in "killings" (over what period of time, and does it include Drew Peterson)? How many World War II veterans (now this is a LARGE number--primarily because of how many were involved and how long they have had to be involved)?
But the real killer question is: How many "JOURNALISTS" have been involved in "killings". I will be waiting for this story, AND for the one (I am sure in the works) doing an EXTENSIVE analysis (without excuses or perspective) of how many ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS are killing people arond the country--not to mention LEGAL immigrants (we KNOW, for examlple, that the one immigrant/kid from an immigrant Korean faminly, killed 33 or so at Virginia Tech).
Nope. This is EVIL stuff. It is DISGRACEFUL. There is NO excuse for it. It is Propaganda. And the people who think this story means anything are brain dead, political hacks interested only in their own political agenda.
There were some 16,800 MURDERS in this country in 2006 ALONE. More than 42,000 people DIE in traffic accidents every year (with anywhere from 25% to 50% alleged to involve drunk driving.
121? GIVE ME A BREAK. Have I told you how much I DESPISE this story, and the people who wrote it, and are putting it out. I keep thinking I m holding back too much on my real feelings here.
You can consult the immediately previous entry in this blog, if you want to get a better idea of how EVIL I think this story is.
