Associated Press: Treason Incorporated?
The despicable Associated Press just loves to reveal "secret" information, especially if it carries the potential to damage this country. See the "Flying, Fickle Finger of Fate" award entry earlier today.
There is still another story from the despicable AP tonight, where teh AP brags about "a senior U.S. official" revealing "secret" information about a trip to Pakistan by the two top U.S. intelligence officers to convince the leader of Pakistan to accept U.S. help against Al Qaeda forces in the Afghan border region.
Since it is even possible that this story was based on an AUTHORIZED leak, for U.S. government purposes, this story does not rise to the AWARD-WINNING level of teh spy satellite story. Still, this story indicates how little actual facts matter in an AP story, as distinguished from rumor and gossip based on anonymous sources with an agenda. Here is the AP paragraph explaining the "reason" (lol) for the source remaining anonymous:
"The official, speaking on condition of anonymity given the secret nature of the talks, declined to disclose what was said, but Musharraf was quoted two days after the Jan. 9 meeting as saying U.S. troops would be regarded as invaders if they crossed into Pakistan to hunt al-Qaida militants."
More RUMOR and GOSSIP from the despicable AP. What is a "senior U.S. official"? I don't know. What I DO know is that it is someone with an AGENDA (making this story totally useless as "news").
Wither the agenda is SABOTAGE of the interests of this country ("secret nature of the talks"), or the Bush Administration itself is trying to send a message (a perfectly reasonable way to "use" the media, but hardly objective "news").
Rule: ALWAYS igore stories from anonymous sources, unless and/or until confirmed by persons willing to STAND BEHIND THE INFORMATION.
