Global Warming and President Bush
We know that President Bush does not really care about "global warming". But he is also a Big Government guy--perfectly willing to look at the Federal Government as the source of all "solutions" for all of our problems (see previous entry). So, having empbraced "global warming" as a "problem" (even while not caring a whit about it), President Bush is unable to control his rhetoric as he COMPETES WITH AL GORE.
Yes, Preisdent Bush essentially set a "goal" of REVERSING greenhouse gas emissions (in other words, not only reducing the increase, but REDUCING the amount of greenhouse gases the "world" emits).
The United Nations has said this is NOT going to happen--that we will have MORE greenhouse gases emitte (substantially more) by 2100--no matter if we adopt the measures advocated by "global warming" priests like Al Gore.
It is easy to see why. The WORLD does not want to REMAIN impoverished. Economic progress means an INCREASE in greenhouse gas emissions. The BILLIONS of people in China, India, and the Third World WANT to live the life of Al Gore (or even the life of "poor" people in the United States).
We are NOT going to convince the world to sacrifice itself on the "cross" of "global warming" (to paraphrase William Jennings Bryan). It is NOT going to happen. Preisdent Bush knows that. So this is just rhetoric. But words MEAN things. Just like adopting Democratic/leftist rhetoric about the government "sovling" all of our--and the worlds'--problems DOOMS conservatism, adopting the rhetoric of "global warming" (a stalking horse for leftist policies in the first place) merely puts another nail in the coffinn of consrvative principles (not to mention rationality).
Nope. It is PAST TIME for President Bush to GO. The problem is the legacy of similar politicians he has left us in the Republican Party.
P.S. Think of how meaningless those "approval ratings" (polls) on President Bush are. IF I answered honestly (I never would, as I believe ALL polls should be SABOTAGED), I would say that I do NOT approve of the job President Bush is doing. But that is meaningless. I DO approve of the War on Terror, and even Iraq. It is the REST of the Bush Presidency of which I do not approve.
