Battleboro, Vt.: Trial of FDR as a Criminal against the Constitution
Yes, residents of Battleboro, Vermont have presented a petition, and evidently succeeded in getting a ballot intiative on the ballot, calling for the ARREST of Frankilin Delano Roosevelt (posthumously) for "crimes against the Constitution". ....What's that? You say they are not really that whacky? You say that they want to ARREST President Bush and Vice President Cheney? You don't think that is whacky? The Supreme Court RULED (later) that FDR acted UNCONSITUTIONALLY in putting THOUSANDS of Japanese AMERICANS in detention camps. There has been no such ruling on anything that President Bush has done.
Isn't it nice how leftists, Democrats (of the politician kind), and the mainstream media--that unholy trinity who are ONE--want to BRING US TOGETHER. Yep, Barack Obama is bringing a new spirit to this country (where IS he on this stuff, if he wants to really bring us together--probably the same no-place he was on the disgraceful "General Betray Us" ad.
What is going on here? It is the attempt by leftists to CRIMINALIZE politics. As I said on my AOL blog ("The Maverick Conservative") yesterday, it is time for leftists to demand that the offin of Franklin Delano Roosevelt be EXHUMED so that he can be posthumoiusly tried and imprisoned for the UNCONSTITUTIONAL (it was later so held) DETENTION of Japanese AMERICANS in World War II (far wose than anything Prsident Bush has even arguably done).
Is this just the kook fringe of the Democrats? Not really. That fringe is now virtually running the Democratic Party. You may not realize it, but this is no different from what Democrats in Congress are doing in trying to CRIMINALIZE everything--including good faith efforts after 9/11 to interrogate TERRORISTS and good faith destrcution of interrogations tapes that could only hurt this country.
P.S. The despicable Associated Press story, featured--of course--on AOL, makes more fun of the people outraged by the residents of Vermont (presented more aas people with their heart in the right place, if a bit extreme) who signed this petition. The AP story makes a point of the comments pouring in accusing these Vermont citizens of being "whack jobs" and "nuts" (mere totally accurate statements of fact--to the extent you don't regard these Vermont citizens as EVIL people trying to DIVIDE us, rather than engage in serious political debate).
