A lawmaker evidently introduced a bill in Pennsylvania to reuquire WELFARE RECIPIENTS (and maybe recipients of some other government benefits--I don't know th full details).

My brother co-owns a trucking business.  HIs DRIVERS have to submit to random drug tests.  NFL players have to submit to random drug tests.  Any number of different kinds of EMPLOYEES in this country have to submit to drug tests to keep their jobs.

Guess what lthe reaction was to this proposed, reasonable requirement (positive drug test would require rehab program to keep benefits)?  Right.  You had the usual leftist stuff about a BURDEN ON THE POOR (discouraging the needy from applying for welfare), invasion of privacy, etc.  So productive people have to have drug tests, but not welfare recipients. 

This is the kind of thing that makes leftist sense.  It makes sense to no one else.  In fact, as usual, leftists are probably HURTING the poor yet again.  Just ask yourself:  Are the poor better off being pressured to get off drugs or not?
