John Dean, Scumbag.  What about Keith Olbermann?

As I said in an entry earlier this week, I made the mistake of getting bored, while sitting in front of the TV, and engaged in some almost random surfing.  I regret it every time I do something that stupid.

Well, on C-Span (or some such channel) I came across about 20 seconds of John Dean--the former White House counsel to Richard Nixon who was intimately involved in the Watergate scandal.  Dean has gotten by for some 35 years on his reputation as the guy who brought down Richard Nixon (Dean furned "state's evidence", and was the star witness st Nixon at the Watergate hearings, until the White House tapes surfaced).

What is seldom appreciated by people (especially leftists to whom he is a hero for bringing down Nixon) is that John Dean was a CRIMINAL.  G. Gordon Liddy has called Watergate a "John Dean operation" (and Liddy should know, although you might correctly regard Liddy as not the most reliable of sources--even though lying has never seemed to be Liddy's fault).  Whether you totally believe Lidday, Dean's own testiomony implicated him as one of the major figures committing criminal acts in connection with Watergate (whether he was ever actually convicted of a crime, after turning "state's evidence", I am not sure).  In other words, John Dean was, and is, a scumbag--not just for turning "stoolie".  If you think John Dean is a hero role model for people, you are living in one of those leftist fantasy worlds.

As I said, Dean has USED his notoriety as a mean ticket for more than 35 years.  On C-span, during the 20 sesconds I watched, Dean was (typically) talking about himself in laudatory terms, including a statement that severaL "bar associations" had invited him to join them.  (I don't think Dean has a license to practice law anymore; he should not have if he does).

What can I say about someone who makes statements like that?  That it shows delusions of grandeur?  I was a lawyer for 35 years or so myself.  State Bar Associations (government associated agencies) do NOT "invite" people to be members.  You have to apply, and pass a bar exam.  The idea that "bar associations" were "inviting" John Dean to join them is absolute nonsense.  The idea that Dean is even qualified to practice as a lwayer at the present time, or any recent time, is laughable.  Now that does not mean that some LAWYER or law firm might not have made overtures to Dean to perhaps eventually join them.  Just like Dean himself has used his reputation, some lawyer or lawyers MIGHT (and might not) want to USE John Dean's name to gain business.

There have been previous entries in this blog mentioning Dean.  Do you know in what connection?  It iwas in connection with Keith Olbermann, before I stopped even surfing MSNBC in disgust.  Olbermann was using Dean as an EXPERT on ethics and law (the "ethics" part is lol funny, and the "law" part is laughable in itself).  You doubt me (you really are a fool)?  One of the two times I saw him on Olbermann he said something that was absolutely FALSE (about VP Cheney not being authorized to release "classified" material, when he clearly is so authorized).  In fact, basically everything I heard Dean say was either false or doubtful.

Olbermann and Dean deserve each other.  It tells you all you need to know about Olbermann that he was using Dean as an "expert".   BOTH Dean and Olbermann are scumbags--albeit I am not aware of Keith Olbermann actually being involved in criminal activity.  Criminal abuse of "journalistic" standards has not yet been made a crime.
