My Easy-Bake Queen!

Jacy made her first cake today! Imagine my pride at her chocolate-frosted wonder. Ahhh... the girl after my own heart. ::big sigh:: LOL
She's been bragging about it all day. She got an Easy-Bake Oven this year from Santa, but since I've been busy with organizing, I haven't had much time to sit down and help her delve into her baking skills. I don't think I ever had an Easy-Bake Oven when I was a kid. If I did, I've forgotten it by now. And I guess over the years, I just grew to assume that it was actually a little oven... you know, with coils and stuff. But noooooo... it actually cooks with a lightbulb!
That's right. A lightbulb.
I thought this was a little strange, but hey, it worked! And she was so cute, so careful with her spoon and spatula. I was careful not to step in and help her too much. I wanted her to do it on her own. And when it was done, she sat down with a fork and ate every bite, save one taste for me. I nodded my approval and she grinned. Then she told me she wanted to do it again. :P

Hmm! Must have been flukey alerts...I missed this entry. I had an Easy Bake too! When all my brownie and cake mixes ran out, I got creative. I used to mash a slice of Wonder bread (minus crust) into a pan, add katsup, add a slice of american cheese broken into pieces and sometimes bologna...put in Easy Bake until cheese melts...voila. Pizza! Sounds gross, I know. LMAO But me and my little brother loved it. Jacy looks so proud...great photos!

Linus - You never know when the oven might burn out. Think you could cook a roast on a lightbulb? Hmmm... :P
Karyn - It sure is a lot of work, though, for such a teeny-tiny cake. LOL Jacy is already begging to make cookies in it. "This weekend," I tell her. Thankfully, she doesn't really know when "This weekend" is, so I might be able to put it off a few more days.
Aunt Nubs - We've only made the one cake so far. And if I had one, I'm pretty sure it would have been in the late 70's. Does that really date us that much?? LOL -
Sarah - Do you know or remember if you can use any kind of cake or baking mix? Or do you have to use the Easy-Bake brand packages? I need to look into that.
st0rm - ROFL!! That has to be the most morbid Easy-Bake Oven store I've ever heard!! Ewwwww.... :P
Kris - Well, if I have to buy the Easy-Bake baking mixes, I doubt we'll be using it very often. Expensive!! Eeek. But if I can figure out a way to use regular 88 cent Betty Crocker cake mixes, we'll set up an assembly line and bake cakes for the whole neighborhood. :P
Alpha - LOL Yeah, well, Coca-Cola cake is too good for a lightbulb. Snobby friggen cake. :P
