This was a long off season. But a productive one.

I dont plan on writing about the loss of key players on the Colts recently. I won't mention the one and only jersey that I own and how I really cant wear it out anymore on Sunday's. I will most likely speak about how excited I am about the new additions to the squad, the opportunity to not miss a step this season, and the rather shaky group of QB's in the NFL this season, and others who may just not have any weapons to throw to come the first game of the season ( no matter what anyone says, it sucks to be a NE fan right now).

Lately I have scoured the Internet for news, tidbits of info that would make me feel like I was on the sideline in Indy watching them work on their plays, run special teams, etc. Anything that would give me more details of what is going on. Maybe even a step by step list of plays that are being executed. but i have found nothing that informative. So i am stuck reading the Indy Star, and Colts.com for my info, as little as it may be.

I have learned a couple of things, that I knew were going to be the case.

At this time the running back competition is beautiful. It seems to me that D. Rhodes hears the footsteps of a tough young running back behind him and is giving it his all to be the No. 1 back which he is truly capably of. People don't understand that Tiki Barber was a backup for 3 years, and so was Priest Holmes for a few prior to their exposure to high numbers in the NFL. D. Rhodes, has the strength to be a 1000 yard back, but maybe not the endurance to take the ball more than 20 times a game. That will be seen.

Joseph Addai, seems to have much of what we lost in EJ. Steady hands in the back field which on 08/03/06 were commented on highly by Peyton. He also has tremendous spee which has surprised Colts staff recently, as that was not his strongest attribute coming in to camp. Now all that we have to worry about is if they can protect as well as James used to. I am sure that Edge is going to have his work cut out for him in Arizona, where the o-line consists of pure Swiss cheese.

These are trying times for Tony Dungy and his family, and my sympathies and prayers go out to them.

Today is a day where the Colts meet a team that can clinch home field advantage in the NFC with a win. Seattle has a vision, and Indy plays with heavy heavy hearts today. The Colts are also showing up to the Land of the Latte minus 5 starters, Cato June, Marvin Harrison, Corey Simon, Robert Mathis, and Ryan Diem. This hardly matters now.

Edge will take 15 balls up the field at most today, Peyton will maybe play a quater, and we will rely on Jim Sorgi to take us down the field and make it a match. Let it be known that I think it this is entirely possible.

The Road to 16-0

The only thing that may hold the Colts from being perfect this season would be an attempt to keep the team healthy the last 3 games of the season. At this point I would do the following.

Play Peyton until there is a 14 pt. pillow every game, unless the Defense has a handle on things, and it is evident that SD, Seattle, and Arizona are not going to score anymore. You can see it when this is happening. You can tell when there is such an intensity and a mismatch that the opposition at the time is not going to make it into the endzone anymore for the rest of the game.

Either way, these coming weeks the Colts should do the following pertaining to the "D". You rest Cato June, and Nick Harper, both have sustained minor groin and ankle injuries. They also need to limit Cory Simon to about 20 plays per game and let him nurse his legs a bit.

Offensively they should concentrate on getting Brian Fletcher and Stokely the ball a bit more than usual, both are capable of making big plays, Stokely can ruin a game for any team and has truly been the 3rd reciever this year and would love some more catches I'm sure.

If they do all of the above, attaining greatness is just around the corner, and making it safely to the playoffs would not be an issue. The next thing they would need to worry about is their Ring Size.

I have missed watching 1 game this season. It was Houston Week 10. I watched live online, but did not catch the actual game. It was really because I had just become the proud owner of a new puppy, and he was not ready to stay home alone.

Now it would be ok, but this weekend I am not going to go out and watch the game against the Titans. I would rather hang out at home watch the score pile up, and hold out until next weekend at Jacksonville. Hopefully by that time we will be 12-0, and Jacksonville will have gotten their hopes up by beating the Browns.

Put my 3 month old boxer puppy on the field in Arrow Head and he would have a better chance of scoring, than having Tom Brady throw for 87 yards and 2 ints in the first half.

More than any team in the NFL, I harbor a pure dislike for anything out of Kansas City. This includes the team, and more so the fans. This all stems from an unruly fan on a canival curise during the historic 2003 playoff game between IND and KC.. Peyton produced unheard of numbers that game and we came away with a huge win, but I was accosted by the cigerette butt of a KC fan, who's wife proceded to call him an ass and drag him back to there stateroom....I hate to say it, but I really would prefer that NE plays a little harder and pulls this one out. ughhh.

well, chad johnson had his way with the Colts, but it did not matter. It was close that is for sure, and I was on the edge of my seat until the last 3 minutes, then it was over. And it was Dallas Clarks game!!

Does 10-0 warrent everyone to stop saying that The Colts still have not proven themselves yet. I think so. Please lets all just get on and ride it till the end!!

Standing in the way of an undefeated season are a few great matchups...Starting with this coming Monday.

Coming off of a startling loss to Baltimore yesterday Pittsburg will march into the RCA dome this coming Monday night. Following that comes Tennessee, a rested Tennessee, then Jacksonville, San Diego, Christmas Eve takes The Colts to Seattle, and an end at Arizona. Obvioulsy the most dificult of these matchups are the San Diego, Jacksonville, and Seattle games, but the chances of going 16-0 are getting better each and every week. 6-0 on the road at this time, does not hurt either.

The only thing that I can see that needs major attention right now is The Colts D. Last night they were caught off guard. Yeah it was all Chad Johnson, and the running game that Cincy brought was definetly tough, and they finally got it together in the 3rd quarter, but allowing those kind of points to be put up is a bit worrysome. We have to twiddle our thumbs a bit and come up with something better than that, when the LT's and the Shaun Alexanders come to town.

I took a week off. A week off from thinking about football really. I week to bask in the light that was shone on the field in Foxboro.

Actually I guess that I have taken 2 weeks off.

The main reason is for the little guy up top!!! The latest addition, and soon to be BradyHaterBoxer!!!!

The other is that we were at Home against Houston. Nuff said.

So just briefly back to the NE game.

Everyone could figure out what was going to happen. Peyton goes deep seconds into the game. The only thing that bothers me is that it took Indy 7 games to realize to just play their kind of football to beat Belichick and his troop of fill in goons, and their media whore leader.

Bill you should go to the locker room, steal Mr. Brady's Amex card and go buy yourself a new secondary, and while your at it, you should go dig through the trenches of jail bound running backs and save one from his destiny so that you have a slight chance in the years to come, to return to the playoffs.

Next up : Cincinnati

This will be a great game, but Indy will cruise to 10-0 this weekend.

Colts 35 Bengals 17

This is Peytons Year

This morning marks the first day of practice for the Colts prior to their trip to Foxboro. They have taken a few days off to rest, and rest they did.

The bye week came at a good time. Bob Sanders has been nursing an arm injury since the St. Louis game and the stars of the defense Reagor, Freeney, Tripplet, and Cato June all have been playing through injuries the past 2 games.

So this is as healthy as they can expect to be now 7 weeks in, and going up against New England this coming Monday night in the First Monday night game at Gillete Stadium, this is the best time to come off a bit of downtime.

Tomorrow the Colts will start concentrating on the Monday night showdown. Statistically, it does not look good for the Colts. That is if you only really look at the stats from the past. The patriots have been victorious the past 2 seasons in playoff victories, 2004 AFC champioship, and the 2003 AFC Divisional Playoffs. Both games brought bad weather to foxboro, both were won by 10 or more points.

So What.

Proceed with brief trash talking

Bill Belichick is going to wish that he never left the 1975 coaching staff of the Baltimore Colts after Monday night, Teddy Bruschi is going to wish that he stayed in bed the rest of the season, and Tom Brady is going to feel like a NY Yankee come the end of regulation Monday night as this is the end of a Dynasty. Dont get me wrong, it was a good run, but it is time to sitback and regroup.

7-0

At this juncture the Colts have manuvered themselves into the the 8th in the NFL in Total Offense, and 6th in Total Defense. If that does not convince the general public, then something is very wrong.

UNSUNG HERO'S

There could not be a better time for the Colts to stake their claim as the best team in the NFL right now. With Cincinatti going South with a proof is in the pudding loss to Pittsburg this past week, San Diego getting their arses handed too them by Philly and welcoming Kansas City into their house this coming week, and a stunning loss at Giants Stadium by the Broncos, the AFC could not be more exciting to watch fall apart.

This weekend is going to be fun to watch despite the Colts time of rest.

Games to watch.

1. Giants v. Redskins

Look for a standout game by Lavar Arrington, he plans on eating LiL Peyton I am sure, and the Giants weak secondary having trouble with Santana Moss. I'm afraid there will be no 4th quarter heroics on this one by Eli.

Redskins 28 Giants 14

2. Jaguars v. Rams

In St. Louis things became a bit unraveled as of late. Unfortunatly look for Jacksonville to keep within 2 games of Indy in the AFC South as their defense makes Stephen Jackson look more like Michael Jackson.

Jaguars 21 Rams 7
