And You Hate Daniel Snyder....

Redskins quickly made a weakness into a strength

As a Redskins fan, I expect us to be major players in the free agent market.  That's what is so great about this economic plan that only, like, the 32 team cap accountants understand.

Last year, the Skins struggled with the passing game.  If Santana Moss or Chris Cooley wasn't catching it....then no one was.  Moss parlayed that into a Pro Bowl selection....with Cooley just missing out.

Next year, it won't be that way.

The Redskins dealt for the Niners Brandon Lloyd.   Lloyd had a darn good year, considering the Niners were playing with young and inexperience QBs and the fact that he was really the only person defenses needed to focus on.  Lloyd can step in and be that 2nd receiver on the other side of Moss.

Errr.....make that the 3rd receiver.

Sunday, the Skins go out and nab Antwan Randle-El from the free agent tree.  While Randle-El doesn't have the numbers that either Moss or Lloyd put up....he is a perfect addition to the Skins.  Washington's offense is now run by Al Saunders, who will be employing more three wide-out sets.  Not to mention that the Skins like those trick plays [remember watching Clinton Portis tossing passes?] that Randle-El is so good at.  It also gives the Skins two of the fastest receivers in the league....and both are good return men as well.

Oh...but they weren't done.  The Skins then signed TE Christian Fauria [formerly of the Patriots] to replace Robert Royal.  Fauria can catch some passes...but is more of a blocking tight end.

So, this gives the Redskins an offensive corps of:

QB:  Mark Brunell
RB:  Clinton Portis
HB:  Chris Cooley
WR:  Santana Moss, Brandon Lloyd, Antwan Randle-El
TE:  Christian Fauria

Not too shabby [well, Brunell is a fossil, but he's got weapons now].

Then, today....the Redskins signed former Rams safety Adam Archuleta.  If Sean Taylor can stay out of jail, he and Archuleta [along with Rogers and Springs] could form one of the better secondaries in the NFL.
