Jason White Ends NFL Career!!!!

Rex Hexed??  Jordan an arsonist??

*During the smack before my Fantasy Draft....hearing "yeah, but can Rex Grossman stay healthy" kept Mushin Muhammad falling down the rankings.  Hmm.  One pre-season game in...and he's out for the 1st half of the season with a broken ankle.  Technically, this is the first big injury of pre-season play....but was it really unexpected?

*Jason White became yet another Heisman winner that fizzed out after college upon his retirement Thursday.  White joins guys like Eric Crouch and Charlie Ward as Heisman winners who never even saw NFL action.  Now, he joins them...and Chris Weinke, Andre Ware, Rashan Salaam, Danny Wuerfful and Gino Toretta....as NFL never-beens.

*Santa Barbara County Fire Department investigators would like to speak to MJ about a criminal arson investigation...but he is not helping.  It took 250 firefighters more than 4 1/2 hours to contain a fire that had spread over 25 acres last Saturday next to the Rancho San Marcos golf course, where Jordan and about a dozen friends were playing golf.   Investigators have been told that members of Jordan's posse may have started the fire.  Criminal charges could be filed against whomever is responsible for starting the fire.

*The Alan Houston Rule apparantly needs a new moniker.  See, the new NBA rule that allows teams to save luxury tax money by letting everyone drop a player...won't be the reason Alan Houston is not a Knick.  The team has decided to keep H20 around for a while instead of using the "one-time pardon" on Houston.  So...will it now be known as the "Brian Grant Rule"???

*BASEBALL UPDATE!!!!  About 10 days ago...I gave up on baseball.  So, let's see what's gone on since then.  Well, the Giants' announcer got canned for being racist toward Caribbean players.  Then, a week later, Hall Of Famer Bob Feller smacks up Caribbean players [not as ugly].  We had the Angels-Athleticsgame [um, the one that decided who gets to be in first place] end because the pitcher can't catch a ball the catcher lobbed back to him.  Kenny Rogers got his suspension slashed and proves furthermore that Bud Selighas no authority over anything.

*Tiger ain't in contention....I ain't watching.  Yep, a fair weathered golf fan.

*Preseason football is just that....preseason football.  Unless your team blows [my team does!], most of your big name players will be making early cameos before doing sideline interviews during the rest of the game.  I mean, you should hope so, or else you get what happened to the Bears' Rex Grossman.  Except to a better player.  Now...having said all of that....I can't wait to watch tomorrow's Redskin tilt with the Panthers.  Here's hoping Clinton Portis comes out unscathed!

*I wish that the NFL had some sort of salary scale for it's rookies.  Every year we have to deal with these drafted players out of camp [the ones they REALLY need to go to] due to contract squabbles.  I know that a scale is tough...since most people figure certain positions get paid more than others....but something's gotta happen.  I live in Cincinnati now...and it seems that every year, no matter who it is, they are holding out.  It could be Carson Palmer or Justin Smith or Akili Smith or Peter Warrick or, as it is now, David Pollack.  Most of these rookies are rendered useless for the season...as they have to play extreme catchup on the playbook and development.  Get to camp guys.

*New NFL season means new NFL uniforms and logos.  This year, it is the Arizona Cardinals sporting new duds.  Not too shabby...if you are in the Arena League.  I KEED I KEED!!!  Anything is better than what they've always had.

This just may spell the end of the White quarterback in professional football.

I happen to like the Cardinal uniforms, thank you. Minimalist, yet primary colored.
