What a game.  What a game!

The North Carolina Tar Heels will be going to the College World Series for the fifth time ever....and the first time since 1989.  They did so by beating Alabama in a best-of-three series in Tuscaloosa.  They did so by making two great comebacks.

The Tar Heels were down 4-2 heading into the bottom of the 8th inning.  Then, Chad Flack hit a three run shot to give the Heels a 5-4 lead [Carolina scored again in that inning to head into the 9th up 6-4] and the Heels the momentum.  In the top of the 9th, however, Bama's Alex Avila smacked a three run shot to give the Crimson Tide a 7-6 lead and the home crowd in hysterics.

Then, Flack hit a 2-run shot with two outs in the bottom of the 9th to vault the Heels into the CWS in Omaha.  Amazing.

This has been a blessed time for the Heels.  They are now 50-13.  They have yet to lose during the CWS playoffs.  Pitchers Andrew Miller and Daniel Bard were selected in the first round of the MLB draft earlier in the week.  Two more Heels, OF Jay Cox and P Robert Woodard, were drafted on Day Two of the draft. 

Now a great comeback in a tough environment to get to the CWS.....beating the tournament's #4 seed at home. 

The College World Series begins Friday.
