The Context of Thoughts and Idea's

I was reading an interesting book today and it gave a metaphor about life that went like this:   In a dark room you can use a spotlight to light up a particular object and you can see it very well up close and get to know the details well.  However, it is utterly incomplete in the sense that you can't see it in context to everything else in the room.  Therefore, a candle with diffuse light would be better so that everything in the room could be seen together.   This idea made me think of the thoughts we human beings have.  We can take a thought that sounds really good and makes sense and that can be justified, but the thoughts are like a cell in an organism.  You can get a microscope out and get to see how the cell works, but it really doesn't tell the story until you see the organism that the cell is in, and what role it has to play in the entire body.  The cell, like a thought, fits a particular situation and function, but would most likely not work in another part of the body as a whole.
