Like Magic, We're Back Where We Began...

We've had some issues with R8, mainly the strange disappearing edit and update buttons. Seeing as this isn't Hogwarts (but wouldn't it be so cool if it was?!) and we're really not trying to do some magic on your journals, we've rolled back the code to R7 until we can determine exactly what went wrong. You'll also notice the system doesn't think everyone is named "Journals" anymore.

Now - we need your help! Since the edit and update buttons really are disappearing and reappearing on journals, we need all of your help to tell us if/when they disappear. R8 is up and running on beta, so please go there and play. To get to the beta version of journals, just add a "beta" in front of your URL. For example, my journal is http://journals.aol.com/stephaniebambam/bambam and my beta url would be http://beta.journals.aol.com/stephaniebambam/bambam. Entries made on the beta site will show up on the regular one, so don't worry about splitting your journal in two or something.

If you don't see the update/edit buttons when you're logged in and if you have time, please try the following steps:
  • Clear your cache (under tools/options, then on one of those tabs...depending on which browser you're using...you'll see an option to delete all temporary internet files). If you're in the AOL client, please clear your cache in IE as well.
  • Log out of AOL, then back in again (use the "sign out" link in the upper right of your journal).
  • Close and reopen your browser.
  • Restart your system
  • If you can, try another browser. Even better, try another computer! Does either work?
  • If you have multiple journals or screennames, try another one.
Then, e-mail or comment here telling me the following:
  • Did any of the above steps work? Which ones?
  • What browser and operating system did you try? If you did try multiple, let me know which ones. Include browser version number if you can - generally available under help/about.
  • What are you or aren't you seeing. Are the edit/update buttons showing up on the wrong journal, or not at all? Can you update by going to an individual entry or archive page? Overall, you can NEVER be too detailed when telling us what you're seeing wrong.
Thanks to all of you - your help will be very instrumental in us fixing this, and obviously we want to do so sooner rather than later.
