More on File Manager

Just an update to make sure you all know I haven't lost track of this issue, and am trying to get it resolved.

So. Here's where we stand now.
  • Keyword: Hometown works.
  • Keyword: File Manager does not. Use the actual link (outside the client, preferably) instead: http://hometown.aol.com/_fm/. I have submitted a request to get the keyword up and running again, but I have no idea how long that takes (I've never done that before).
Inside the AOL client, the following things happen:
  • Uploading one file/picture at a time works, although you'll end up on a blank screen after the upload process is complete. Go back to the original hometown page, click "browse my files," and you'll see the file listed.
  • Uploading more than one file/picture is hosed. You get an ugly 504 error.
Outside the AOL client (I've tried this using Internet Explorer and Firefox):
  • One file/picture uploads fine, and works exactly as it should.
  • Uploading more than one picture will just reload the "add pictures" page, and as far as I can tell, nothing actually uploads.
So, my recommendation is that if you really, really want to use File Manager, only upload one file at a time using an external browser. We are looking into getting this fixed, but I can't give a timeframe for when that will happen right now. As soon as I know more, you will too.

Thanks for being so understanding!!

Why can't I delete more than one file at a time from the browse list?

The reason I am so upset about the wonky file manager is that when one uploads pics to FTP space, there is extra work in having to rename the file to .gif or jpg or whatever. With file manager it is done automatically, thereby saving a step. Unless I am missing something about ftp space uploads.. and someone knows how to do it in one step..  and if you do, please write me at HP Miou@aol.com.

I love file manager because it does that extra step for me. I only use FTP in I am uploading mp3 files that are larger than 1 MB.

Thanks so much for any help.

To answer a few questions at once:

    - AOL Video help can be found at http://video.aol.com - click the "help" link on the lower left side.

    - Yup, as far as I know there is no reason why you can't use My FTP Space - I personally haven't had any problems with it. You can also use AOL's new public photo galleries, if you're so inclined ( http://pictures.aol.com/ ).

    - Deleting files seems to work through FTP for me, but yeah, not through file manager - I'll add that to the list of things to be checked out.

    Thanks everyone...

I have actually gotten it to work and to upload more than 1 but it took several attempts. Can we just use My FTP Space to upload pictures?
