I have to admit that I (normally) love where I sit at AOL. I'm in a cube here, but it's a little room with a few cubes, and mostly product managers working on community stuff (AIM Pages, Message Boards, Publisher). We have an atrium on one side of our room (where they make salads at lunch - nice!), and on the other side is a floor to ceiling, full length glass wall with doors out to an outdoor courtyard. I don't think the glass doors (or the wall) are very well weather-proofed. No biggie though, we just wear our jackets all the time.
Last week, notices started going up around the building saying that there was going to be some reconstruction of our driveway and sidewalks. Okie, no big deal, right?
I was wrong. There is a jackhammer going off about 30 feet from my desk. And obviously, if the doors aren't even weather proofed, they're sure not sound proofed.
I'm sitting here listening to Soundgarden (I saw Casino Royale last night and Chris Cornell did the theme song...got me in a mood) as loud as my ears will take it, and I can STILL hear the jackhammer. This is crazy!! Of course I had to take a picture to share. I don't know what this thing technically is, but holy cow, it's loud. AOL's nooooooooooooisy today!

I don't know what you call that little hammering gizmo, but I really want one. It looks like fun.
