Subject: Dust Storm delays Oppy's Victoria descent...
Time: 11:56:00 AM EDT
Author:  stuartatk

The growth of a large dust storm on Mars has led to the postponement of the rover "Opportunity"'s descent into Victoria Crater. The rover was due to start edging down into the crater on July 7th or 9th, but the dust storm has reduced the amount of solar energy reaching the rover enough to result in a postponement of several days, and Oppy now seems unlikely to head into the crater and head for "Bright Band" before July 13th. Watch this space for updates...!

UPDATE: this storm is getting serious now, and there are great concerns about Opportunity. If the dust levels get much worse, then this is the view she'll have of the crater soon...
