Last night's meeting of Kendal's EDDINGTON ASTRONOMICAL SOCIETY was another very enjoyable evening, with lots of discussion and debate about events in the world of astronomy and space exploration. Among the news stories covered were the launch of the DAWN spaceprobe, the recent fly-by of Saturn's moon Iapetus by the CASSINI space probe, and the continuing exploration of Mars by the two seemingly-immortal Mars Exploration Rovers.
The highlight of last night's meeting tho was definitely the talk given by our very special guest speaker, Dr Keith Robinson, who travelled up from Lancaster to talk to us about "Cataclysmic Variable Stars". Keith's very animated and enthusiastic delivery was very entertaining, but there was lots of fascinating science and serious astronomy in there too, and at the end of the talk the 25 or so EAS members rewarded him with appreciative and much-deserved applause.
So, thanks again to Keith for coming to see us, and to everyone who attended the meeting at Kendal Museum, too. It was great to see a few more new faces in the audience - the more the merrier!
