Subject: Comet Holmes as seen from Kendal...
Time: 12:44:00 PM EDT
Author:  stuartatk

Comet Holmes - "the Exploding Comet" as it will always be known now - is being observed by amateur astronomers in every country in the world at every opportunity. As I've reported already I've seen it on several occasions from here in Kendal now, and even managed one rather poor photo. But other members of the Eddington AS have been drooling over the comet too, including our Treasurer, David Allan, who took this stunning picture on one recent clear night...

Unfortunately the weather forecast for Kendal and indeed the whole of the NW of the UK for the next few days is awful, so no idea when we'll get to see this fascinating object again. In the meantime there's a stunning gallery of Holmes images over at Spaceweather.com. And... pssstttt... I've heard that the Hubble telescope is going to take images of the comet too - and I'll show you them right here when they appear.
