Opportunity is apparrently making good progress as she advances, slowly and carefully, towards Cape Verde inside Victoria Crater. Here's a colourised panorama I put together of the latest images sent back by Oppy...

You can clearly see on that larger image that there's a lot of loose rock around the base of the cliff, which might make it hard for the rover to make it up to the cliff face itself. Scientists are keen to get to within touching distance of the Cape because that will allow them to carry out detailed studies of the layered rocks it is made of. But that looks like quite a tought area to navigate through, or around, so we'll have to watch and wait. One thing is sure tho, the next few days should see some beautiful images coming back from Opportunity, as the rock face looms up ahead of it and we see more and more detail in those fascinating layers...
