Looking at a Line from a Prayer

Recent event have had me taking a second look at a line from one of the prayers revealed by Abdu'l-Baha. Here is that line:

"Make me as dust in the pathway of Thy loved ones...."

I had always seen that line as only a call for God-fearing people to remain humble. Now I think it might mean something more.

At the end of March, the news included a report about damage done to a statue on Easter Island. Years ago I read about the expedition that uncovered those statues. When the expedition leader first got to Easter Island, he was not even sure that any statues existed there on the Island.

He was not sure that the Island had enough dust to cover-up any large archeological find. Then one day one of the women living on Easter Island complained about all the dust in her home. That  proved to the expedition leader that something of value might be buried on Easter Island.

Perhaps Abdu'l-Baha wants us to have treasures in us. He wanst us to encourage others to uncover those treasures. If we appear as something more formidable than mere dust, they might never seek to go after those treaures.
