Feeling Quiet
On Unspoken Thoughts
In my story about Abdu'l-Baha's visit to the U.S., I did not include a great many quotes from Abdu'l-Baha. I think that the Persian visitor himself was a bit reticent during his visit. Here is a quote from his writings:
"Not everything that a man knoweth
can be disclosed, nor can everything that he can
disclose be regarded as timely, nor can every timely
utterance be considered as suited to the capacity of
those who hear it."
Obviously, Abdu'l-Baha had many unspoken thoughts during his stay in the United States. Maybe he shared some of those with his sister Bahiyya. Perhaps he shared some with his grandson, Shoghi Effendi.
Shoghi Effendi later wrote a number of letters to the Baha'is in the United States. Perhaps a look at some of the those letters could disclose a few of the unspoken thoughts that enterred the mind of Abdu'l-Baha. I have a book that contains some of those letters. I plan to look at it closely this week and next week.
