Hey, Angie here with interesting casting news of the week: Robert Downey Jr. has been cast as Iron Man. Jon Favreau is directing, and the movie will come out in May '08. It's the first film to be self-financed by Marvel ... Color me intrigued.
What do we think here? Robert Downey Jr. as a superhero? Speaking as a non-fanboy, i'm actually quite excited by the prospect. Sure, the closest thing Downey's done to an action movie is 'Kiss Kiss Bang Bang' (which i really kinda loved), and OK, so he may be a little long in the tooth to be suiting up in a metal jumper, but the man can act. i liken it to Michael Keaton being cast as Batman oh so many years ago -- as skeptical as people were about that choice, Keaton was far and away the best 'Man on screen ... until Christian Bale took on the role in 'Batman Begins.'
And with Favreau directing ... i now am super interested in a film that wasn't even on my radar till today. So, what say we, movie fans? Yay or nay on the prospects of the big screen's newest superhero?

Downey is sheer genuis . AS pissed as I was Afleck blew the chance to play Tony Stark ie.= Daredevil so A a couple of shur' bets are Downey and that guy from TLOTR ...yes ---you know who !?! Besides who else has that Supreme Mask going out ' than downey . I used to think they would make Iron Man back in the 70s' then Jack ( No rubber ) Nicholson would have been perfect . Who knows maybe they can fit Jack somewhere like those writers did in Superman with Brando ..kinda prop him up in the movie ...he says a few words ...zoommm ...back to paris .....
Super Supreme girl would be Biel or if they could get Johanson -- that would creme' . My perfect movie would some somehow include War MAchine and the play between Tony the Weapon Manufactuer VS> Iron Man -- Protector of the Innocent .
Then again Pigs may fly one day ....

What's Up people, well, what i think is that RDJ has always played chacarters that were way off, mentally that is. Iron Man is a hero who is a super rich guy, an alcoholic & has major heart problems. Being a comic fan and now have becoming a fan of Jon favreau's movies, i trust that Jon will be true to the comic & chacarter's story. RDJ is a man who is living his second chance in his life and i do feel he has the mental talent to pull off tony stark's everyday problems, like being a spoiled with money & fame. RDJ has been there done that, so he can pull it off. But, what makes me think that he is NOT the one for this movie is that he doesn't have the size or built to make "me" beleive he can be Iron Man, even if we can't see his face. When i think of Iron Man as a movie i think of Robocop. Peter Weller was tall
with a decent built. So when he had that suit on i wasn't thinking "Oh man, he's not strong enough to walk in that thing" i knew he could handle it. But when i see RDJ in that suit that is what will be going through my mind "He's too small man, just putting that suit on is gonna give him a Freaking heart attack". So, i'm saying...No to RDJ as IRON MAN. But i really do want to be proven wrong, cause i DO want to see a good movie. -
honestly i think they should get a no name talent cause i freakin hate it when they chose someone like downey to be tony stark

I think that the rumors in the past year of having Tom Cruise playing Tony Stark would have been the best choice. But, Downey can act i just hope he doesn't snort up a line while fighting the bad guys
