No Babies for Princess Mau'i

84F CLEAR @ 10:31 pm

I want to thank you all for your wonderful words of support.
You all are the best!  With each note left I felt so much better.

Kisses

Jazzy is  is so much better.
Still on medication, but I'd say 99% better.  Of course, no more people food for her.  Not even her favorites...watermelon & carrots.  She is up to 16 lbs.  When her white hair is wet and you can see her pink skin she is plump as a little pink pig.

I've decided that after being verbally and emotionally abused by that Vet that I will definitely not be going back.  There are probable 1012- Vets within of where I live.
This Vet just happened to be easy to get to by bicycle.

I'm going to send him a certified letter and tell him that I will pay his fee until paid by the 7th of each month.  Not going to tell him, but it's will be on my terms and I may very well pay him 10 bucks a month just because he was such so offensive.  I thought about it and I figured out that if he only saw 8 animals a day and charged the owners what he charged me that he was making more in one day than I do in a month. I think he can very well manage his "over head".   when I wrote my last entry I hadn't looked at the bill.  In February he charged $42 for an office visit.  May, it was $54 and this week it was $69. Cripes, that's inflation.  Of course, the stool samples, lab tests, 2 injections & flagyl was additional. Chaaa-cinge!

Mau'i was spayed this past Thursday.  Yes, I took away her right to be a mother. The tech's were so nice.  What a difference from my experience earlier in the week!  I think they expected Maui to be a real "wild one".  They were amazed at how sweet she was and the man tech said she was such a little princess.
Hehee....Princess Mau'i.

We got home and the poor thing was stumbling around like  a drunken sailor without sea legs.  She walked around the house like a duck...with her tail between her legs.  When she tried to jump onto the couch poor baby would fall over backwards.  I tried to keep her calm, but I think she was looking for food (which had to be held until 8 pm)  Finally I put her in her crate with a blanket over it & she slept.

That was good for a while.  She woke up about 9 pm,  ate &  drank some water.  I put her back in her crate, as I do every night at 11 pm, but she was raring to go and meowed for about an hour, again for an hour at 1, then 3 then 5, then 7am...I got up.  And she doesn't "mee-uuuu" her tiny mee-uuu anymore, she yowls like a big girl!

I fed her her breakfast, then she played. Still couldn't jump.
By 11:30 am I couldn't keep my eyes open and I laid down on the couch.  Jazzy at my feet, Mau'i curled up next to me and we all slept until 2:45 in the afternoon!

She is fine now also except for the sneezing.  The cat Vet has said the sneexing is from the feline herpes she got from her mother and it will act up when her immune system is down or under stress.

Now that she can't get pregnant I'm going to start letting her out.  She can jump and play.  Find lizards to chase and bugs to eat.

Hopefully using some that of energy that Jazzy and I just dont have.   We iz couch "Purr-taters"

And Beachy Bums

Thank you Donna :  )

MY FIRST RANT

84F Cloudy at 11:30 am

This is long, I'm upset....

There have been very few times where I have been as upset as I am today. I am beyond distraught and my stomach is in a twist.

Last night Jasmine, my Maltese, got very sick again vomiting, over and over again.  By this morning her breathing was labored, trembling & still vomiting.

So I call the Vet at the TLC Animal clinic.  I was able to get a ride and we were there before 8: 30 am.

Now, going back a yr or 2 to  Jazz's first  appt at this place I remember the vet tech recorded her wt as 13.8.  When the Doggie Dr came into the room I told him that the wt was incorrect, Jazzy has weighed between 14.5 and 15.8 for yrs.

The next visit when we went in for her yearly shots her was wt 15.6.  He told me she gained 2 lbs and that wasn't good for her.  Again I told him that her wt was recorded incorrectly at the previous visit.

This past May  Jazz had bloody mucous stool and was going every 30-45 minutes.  *Yuck, I guess this is why I didn't write it in the journal.  I gave her chicken and rice for a few days and it didn't get any better.

Like I said I didn't record it in my journal, but now I wish I had now.  When Vet checked her at that time I asked him if it could be from the pork that the neighbor guy gave her or maybe cat crap she ate off the ground.  He didn't anything. He took a stool sample, and told me it was most likely something she picked up being around other dogs or water with contaminated stool.  He told me it was most likely Corona Virus, although it's very rare.  He gave her something to calm her intestines and Metronidazole capsules (Flagyl).  After about a week everything was back to normal.

NOW~Back to the present..Neighbor Man, yes the Pork Man gave Jazz some pork and a bone.  I should have said no because last night Jazzy vomited in the bathroom 5-6 times, then few times in the living room.  Water wasn't staying down,  her breathing was labored and her stomach rigid.  All I could think about was the pork with the bone in it neighbor guy gave her and how I should have told him not to give it to her.  This all started around 3 am, so I called the vet about 8am.  All I could think about was that she may have a perforated intestine form the bone.

The vet examined her, although I was ashamed to admit it, I told him about the pork.  He said that she needed to stay at the animal hospital&  have blood work because he was worried about her Pancreas. Or I could treat her at home and see how she does.  Of course, now I am thinking about how I know shAnd this guy is very expensive.  Last May I spent $247.00.

He was looking at her chart and I asked him if it was related to the Corona Virus she had in May.  He looked at me and asked me what I was talking about.  So I told him that he had told me that is what she had in May.

No, I didn't he said, What gave you that idea?

Now I am beginning that I am really crazy....out of my mind....premature Alzheimer's ?!

So I told him that in May HE told me that she must have gotten Corona Virus from other dogs stool that get into the rain water that floods the area.  Dogs eat things off the ground they get sick.

He then told me that he told me no such thing, he had proof, it wasn't in her chart.  And Coronavirus is very rare.

I said, well that is what you told me.

Next he told me that I must have talked with someone else because he did't recall mentioning anything about Corona Virus.

To which I replied that I had only talked with him...and I didn't just pull "Coronavirus" out of the air.

Well,  he said, every time you come in here you tell me I am wrong.

I just looked at him and thinking, "What an asshole!"
Feeling he is belittling me in a moment of weakness, growing more frustrated, worried about Jazz and the money I am in tears again.

So I told him again that it was just the initial weight on that very first visit & that didn't really matter right now.

"Oh yes it does!", he said, "because she is overweight, YOU KNOW this can affect the pancreas.  Then he went on again to say that he has everything recorded in her chart and don't I do that as a nurse?  He said that every time I come in I argue with him about her weight.  He waved the chart at me & told me he had proof!

So then I told him I only had $25.00 and that I would have to treat her at home.  I told him that I haven't been able to work for several years and just can't afford it.  I was honest and feeling terribly guilty that I couldn't care for Jazzy the way she should be.  She is a really good dog.

He seemed even more riled at this point & told me that there were other vets that could treat her for little or nothing.  ::Yeah, WHO?!::

I then told him that before we came to this area of Palm Harbor, the Vet we had always got paid.  If not that month, the next.  The Vet was always paid.  Dr Lynch then went on to say he had "over head", electric bills, equipment, a lab, couldn't treat her for free, and yada, yada, yada.  I've heard this from a few doctors I worked for...."THE OVER HEAD".

I could feel my blood pressure going thru the roof....
I calmly told him I understood and that I was going to take her home.  The proceded to scoop her up in my arms.

"Well", he said, "I'm going to give her something for the cramps, the pain, and some Flagyl.  Then he said, "I did give her flagyl, right??"

"Oh Yeah???", I'm thinking, "You've GOT the chart in your hand for God's sake!"  I realy bite my tongue so Jaz could get some help.

So he gave her the injection and pills to take home.  And told me just to let her drink small amounts of water and braise some white chicken meat for her to eat.

Then out to the receptionist.  The bill....$149.00  I gave her the $25.00 I had in my pocket and told her that I would try to get the rest by the end of the day. The only thing I could think of was to call my mother to beg on Jazzy's behalf.  The girl behind the desk gave me a dirty look me and went back to talk to the Vet.

Jazzy then pooped a huge amount of blood onto the floor.  And, of course, now I am upset &  in tears again.

I gathered poor Jazzy up and the 2 of us came home. The more I think of the way this Vet spoke to me, and how he has  in the past, the more angry I get.

When I got home I looked up Flagyl online.  It is given for bacterial, certain viral infections and gastritis.

AND I looked up Canine Corona virus-Which I didn't do last May.....

CANINE CORONAVIRUS

Canine Coronavirus is a virus that affects the intestinal tract of dogs.  It causes a gastroenteritis similar to parvo.  Canine Coronavirus is a highly contagious virus affecting not only puppies, but older dogs as well.

The clinical signs of Canine Coronavirus vary from mild and undetectable to severe and fatal.  Most common signs include:  depression, fever, loss of appetite, vomiting, and diarrhea.  The diarrhea can be watery, yellowish-orange in color, bloody, mucoid, and usually has an offensive odor.  Sudden death and abortions sometimes occur.  The duration of illness can be anywhere from 2-10 days.

The most common route of infection is contact with fecal material containing the virus.  Signs begin to show 1-5 days after exposure.  The dog becomes a “carrier” for several weeks after recovery.  The virus can live in the environment for several months.  Clorox mixed at a rate of 4 ounces in a gallon of water will destroy the virus.

Because it is a virus, there is NO CURE for coronavirus at this time.  Treatment varies according to the severity of the disease and the age and condition of your pet.  Inravenous fluid therapy and hospitalization are often required, since dehydration readily occurs with this illness.  Additional therapy can consist of dietary restriction, anti-emetics (anti-vomiting), anti-diarrheals, and broad spectrum antibiotics to prevent secondary infections.

It is estimated that at least 50% of allvirus-type diarrhea is infected with both Parvovirus and Coronavirus.  It is estimated that over 90% of all dogs have had exposure to Coronavirus at one time or another.   Dogs that have recovered from Coronavirus develop some immunity, but the duration of immunity is unknown.

PREVENTION

Strict sanitation is required, especially if your household contains more than one dog.  All animal waste should be disposed of daily, and feeding and watering utensils should be properly sanitized.  A VACCINE for Canine Coronavirus is available.  We highly recommend vaccination of all dogs against coronavirus, as well as parvovirus.

So now I am thinking that if the Vet had not told me about this "Corona Virus" how did I know that it is from fecal matter. And according to this web site it doesn't sound are rare as I was told by him.

Now I am thinking, do I call my mother, who I do not have a good relationship with?  Ask her to cover me with a her credit card?  She and I kinda of had it out last winter when I told her that I knew that she had given my brother the down payment on his house, the life insurance policy is in his name only and 2 cars.  She only has 2 children.  It's like I don't exist to her.
Oh there is more to it, too much to talk about now.

The thought of calling my mother really puts my inards in a twist.

Or shall I write a letter to the Vet and tell him I will have the remainder of  money on the 1st of themonth?

Yep, I made a Winner

82 F Partly Cloudy

Thank you Sarah!

Yes, that is Moi!

My tag was # 3 in the Weekly PSP contest our group has.

And here is my little tag...

Hmmm?  Did I ever tell you about Paradise Lakes?

It's the local Nudist Community.  Strange thing is that everyone is required and is good manners bring your own hand towel to sit on when visiting nieghbors or to wear a towel around your middle.

You must always place a towel down before sitting in a public place.  Say the pool area.  It may very well be Florida Law.

MY thoughts ~ Wouldn't just be easier to put on a pair of shorts than to think about putting a towel down every time you wish to sit?

Just another day in Paradise

83F 29C Sunny @ 9:30 am

Can you guess what they do at Paradise lakes?

Ugghhh!  The entire entry I did was lost in cyber space!

In a nutshell~I am sore & sunburned from washing my friend Sandy's car yesterday.  I don't own a car and Sandy offers her keys to me from time to time for quick trips on this side of busy U.S. 19.

Here on the coast we are getting thunderstorms in the afternoon on a daily basis.  This is a welcome relief from heat.  And I am very pleased with myself because it looks like what I did patching the roof is working...no leaks at all.  I am just so pleased with myself!!  And now I'm actually thinking of doing my "little process" to the entire roof when this rainy season ends.

Mau'i had a Vet appt yesterday to get her 2nd deworming, a distemper and feline leukemia shots. Poor baby ran a fever last night & just slept.  She usually gets the "crazy cats" in the evening, but last night seemed so weird...just too quiet.

She is a lttle better this morning.  Still a little hot, but playing a little.  Still sleeping alot.  Oh, she gained weight-last month she was 3lbs 1oz, yesterday 4lbs 8oz!  She doesn't looke like a kitten to me anymore.  She looks like a grown cat.  But, I guess she is only half her adult weight.

Ok, I'm offI need more cafeine!

I hope you all have awonderful day...

HAPPY 4TH OF JULY WEEKEND!

84F SUNNY @ 5:15pm

Hi Everyone!

So sorry I've been AWOL lately.  I try not to complain much but I haven't been feeling so good.  My stomach has been turned inside out & upside down with these ulcers.  And I am nauseous all the time.  I had nausea.  When I went to the Rheumatolgist for my monthly visit & blood work the results showed that I am still terribly anemic with a Hb of 9.5 : /  It's supposed to be at least 12.0, but I'd be happy with an 11.

I tried to get and appointment with the Doc who did my EGD in May, but he doesn't have any appts until August 12th.  I'll call again Monday as I am feeling pretty yucky.

I joined a couple new groups.  The one here in AOL I joined a couple months ago~Angela and Shelly's Group and I was so surprised to see so many people that have already helped me with my learning.   Then after talking with Winivere and Joyce they joined as well.  YEA!

The other is a Learning PSP group thru Yahoo.  Although I was doing okay in some areas I was struggling.

The struggling reminded me of when I hadquit college after 2 yrs, moved into an apartment of my own, and was taking night courses at a nearby college in Albany, NY.  I was accepted into Nursing School even though it was 3 yrs into the course.  I did very well and had the highest grades of all the students when we graduated.  It wasn't until after I started working did I realize that I had holes in my education.  Yes, I did well, very well, and had instructors tell me I should be teaching the course.  My NYS testing scores were nearly perfect.  But, from time to time I wished that I had taken the course from the very beginning as sometimes there was very basic information I had to go look up.  Or medications I should have known.  I eventually went back to get a higher degree, but instead of skiiping ahead as the testing indicated I could do, I opted to start with the rest of the class.

That is how I felt with the PSP group I was in.  Knowing nothing about the program I needed some groundwork.  Yes, a perfectionist  I am.

The LearnPSP Group teaches with tutorials starting with learning the basics of the toolbar, palettes, colors, etc. and then the results of the lessons are sent into the group addy to be graded.  Then after 10 lessons there is a test.   Much of the information I had figured out, but I've learned the past couple of weeks.  And on my sidebar you will see I passed Basic PSP 101~LOL!

Now on to filters, and plug-ins, and brushes....Oh My!

Mau'i is getting big.  She is about 4 months now and very active.  Two days ago she found the bathtub with the laundry basket in it and I haven't been able to get her out of it.  Hehee, I suppose if I turn on the water she'd leave, but for right now what ever satisfies her curiosity and keeps her out of trouble I'm not going to mess with.

She is going to the Cat Doc tomorrow for her 2nd deworming medicine, Feline Leukemia & Distemper shots.  Next week I'm taking her to the clinic up in Tarpon Springs where a Van from Animal control comes with a Vet.  They are going to spay her, give her a Rabies injection and license her free of charge if I show them that I get state aid.

Yes, I get $10 a month in food stamps.  Yes, I am a burden to the tax payers.

Hmmm, I see I have a lizard in the house.  They are welcome creatures in our Florida homes as they eat ants, mosquitoes, & palmetto bugs.  I'm wondering how long this little guy is going to last with Miss Mau'i around.

I hope you all had a wonderful 4th of July weekend!

So Long Chuck

Sad | History Channel

"Chuck has left the Building" was the message left by Chuck's daughter, Kate, this morning.

Dear Chuck had a soft and generous soul and his writings enveloped us all.

I'm so sad the world had to lose someone who could talk, teach, & touch strangers hearts the way he did.

Good-by Chuck and thanks for the "Chuckles".

CALLING OUT

76F /24C Clear @ 12:30 am

T

Thank you Donna

If you haven't heard dear Chuck of "Dribble by Chuck" is not doing well.

Chuck has been writing in JLand for several years.  His musings and quips have kept us all in stiches.  He taught me the hours of amusement that can be had at a low cost in the Dollar store.  And to look for humorous "Signs on Doors", not to mention the aggravation of a tempermental HP printer.

If you know of Chuck, please go immediately to his journal.  He has been getting weaker for a couple of weeks and from the sound of things it sounds like he is about to check out of this life.

His daughter is writing his entries & is not requesting prayers for recovery or for him to pull through.  Only for your good wishes to help him relax and let go.

Dribble by Chuck Ferris

Lyrics by Pattie LaBelle

Hey Sister, Go Sister, Soul Sister, Go Sister (x2)
He met Marmalade down in Old New Orleans
Struttin' her stuff on the street
She said 'Hello,
hey Joe, you wanna give it a go?
'Mmm Hmmm Gitchi Gitchi Ya Ya Da Da (?)
Gitchi Gitchi Ya Ya
Here (?)
Mocca chocolata Ya Ya
Creole Lady Marmalade
Voulez-vous coucher avec moi ce soir?
Voulez-vous coucher avec moi?
Stayed in her pool while
watch he crashing up
That boy drank all that night don't know why
Oh the last sight she went
he started to freak
Gitchi Gitchi Ya Ya Da Da
Gitchi Gitchi Ya Ya Here
Mocca chocalata Ya Ya
Creole Lady Marmalade
Voulez-vous coucher avec moi ce soir?
Voulez-vous coucher avec moi?
Heh, Heh, Hehhhh
Seeing her skin feeling silky smooth
Colour of cafe au lait
Made the savage beast inside
Roaring till it cried More, More, More
Now he's at home doing 9 to 5
Living his brave life of lies
But when he turns off to sleep
All memories keep More, More, More
Gitchi Gitchi Ya Ya Da Da Da
Gitchi Gitchi Ya Ya here
Mocca chocolata Ya Ya
Creole Lady Marmalade
Voulez-vous coucher avec moi ce soir?
Voulez-vous coucher avec moi?
Voulez-vous couchez avec moi ce soir?
Creole Lady Marmalade

Did you notice the cameo by Patti LaBelle at the end of the video?

HISTORY IN A NUTSHELL ~ JUN 22

74F / 24C CLEAR HUM 84% BAR 30.05 mb

1611  Hudson Set Adrift By Mutineers

After spending a winter trapped by ice in present-day Hudson Bay, the starving crew of the Discovery mutinies against its captain, English navigator Henry Hudson, and sets him, his teenage son, and seven supporters adrift in a small, open boat. Hudson and the eight others were never seen again.

Two years earlier, in 1609, Hudson sailed to the Americas to find a northwest passage to Asia after repeatedly failing in his efforts to find a northeast ocean passage. Exploring the North American coast, he entered the present-day Chesapeake, Delaware, and New York bays, and then became the first European to ascend what is now called the Hudson River. His voyage, which was financed by the Dutch, was the basis of Holland's later claims to the region.

His fourth expedition, financed by adventurers from England, set out from London on April 17, 1610. Sailing back across the Atlantic, Hudson resumed his efforts to find the northwest passage. Between Greenland and Labrador he entered the present-day Hudson Strait and by it reached Hudson Bay. After three months of exploration, the Discovery was caught too far from open sea when winter set in, and in November Hudson's men were forced to haul it ashore and set up a winter camp. Lacking food or supplies, the expedition greatly suffered in the extreme cold. Many of the crew held Hudson responsible for their misfortune, and on June 22, 1611, with the coming of summer, they mutinied against him. The Discovery later returned to England, and its crew was arrested for the mutiny. Although Henry Hudson was never seen again, his discoveries gave England its claim to the rich Hudson Bay region.

1937  Joe Louis Becomes Champ

In Chicago's Comiskey Park, Joe Louis wins the world heavyweight boxing title when he defeats American Jim Braddock in an eighth-round knockout. Louis was the first African American heavyweight champ since Jack Johnson, who lost the title in 1915. During his subsequent reign, the longest in the history of the heavyweight division, Louis successfully defended his title 25 times, scoring 21 knockouts.

1969  Judy Garland Dies

On this day in 1969, actress and singer Judy Garland dies of an overdose of sleeping pills. Garland began performing as a child and became one of America's most loved stars when she played Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz (1939). She began using amphetamines to combat a weight problem during her teens and became dependent on drugs and alcohol, which undermined her career.

  1987 Fred Astaire Dies

Actor, choreographer and Broadway dancer. He made 31 musical films, but is best know for the 10 films he made with Ginger Rogers.

HISTORY IN A NUTSHELL~JUN 21

72F THUNDERSTORMS HUM 91% BAR 30.14mb

1788  U.S. Constitution Ratified

New Hampshire becomes the ninth and last necessary state to ratify the Constitution of the United States, thereby making the document the law of the land.

1947  A Ford Marries a Firestone

William Clay Ford married Martha Firestone, uniting two of the greatest fortunes in the American automotive industry. Henry Ford and Harvey Firestone had been close friends and allies during their lives after Firestone received the exclusive contract to supply tires for Ford's Model T. Neither man lived to see the union of their families.

1982  Hinckley Not Guilty By Reason of Insanity

John W. Hinckley, Jr., who on March 30, 1981, shot President Ronald Reagan and three others outside a Washington, D.C., hotel, was found not guilty of attempted murder by reason of insanity. In the trial, Hinckley's defense attorneys argued that their client was ill with narcissistic personality disorder, citing medical evidence, and had a pathological obsession with the 1976 film Taxi Driver, in which the main character attempts to assassinate a fictional senator. His lawyers claimed that Hinckley had watched the movie more than a dozen times, was obsessed with the lead actress, Jodie Foster, and had attempted to reenact the events of the film in his own life. The movie, not Hinckley, they successfully argued, was the actual planning force behind the events that occurred on March 30, 1981.
