Inane thoughts and insane ramblings

We have had a great weekend so far. As you can see, I smoked a huge batch of baby back ribs and chicken. Our out of town guests arrived with their three kids, two Brett’s age and one almost Trevor’s age, so the kids all had someone to play with. We gobbled down tons of the food (couldn’t eat it all though) and then took the kids to Celebration Station.

There the older boys road the go carts and bumper boats, terrorizing the staff. Brett and Austin really hit it off and acted like they were old friends. Trevor and Nathan road the plane ride, kiddie roller coaster and other kiddie rides. At one point, the three big boys rode the roller coaster too! It was a hoot, I can’t believe 1) that Brett was able to fit his 6’4" frame in the ride and 2) that they let him.

Alexis looked so serious while driving Trevor in the go carts, like she was trying to win Daytona. The big boys acted more like Tony Stewart, bumping, passing, cornering. They were having a blast.

Then we finished off the evening in the game room trying to make sure we used all of our tokens.

We came back to the house around 10:30pm and had Trevor’s birthday cake. The four adults sat on the deck in the very comfortable evening air and talked about our lives, the kids, funny stories, and personal challenges. They left for the hotel with their youngest around 12:30 and the big boys went down to the pool for a midnight swim after swearing on their life that they wouldn’t make a lot of noise. I got to bed around 2:30am.

The boys are all still asleep this morning and I am waiting on David to call so we can go on our 26 mile bike ride. Then Alexis and Tammy are going to either take the kids to the zoo or to the pool. This afternoon, we have poker at the inlaws. Damn I’m having fun……wanna come along?
