Feeling Happy
Karate promotion, cookbook idea
Tonight was the promotion ceremony at Jack Butturini’s School of American Karate. Trevor was so proud to be getting his gold belt and I was happy to get my white with gold stripe belt. This is a new branch of the school and it’s only 8 months old so I was happy to see a packed house. Literally 5 minutes before the ceremony began, the adult kick boxers decided to do a small demonstration of our basic form one for the standing room only crowd of about 70 people. I was elected (i.e. last one to say "not me!") to be the lead person, which means I was out in front of the group, by myself, unable to "blend in" or watch everyone else for timing. They were all following my lead. Thankfully, it went off rather well and I didn’t screw up once (or twice, lol). Trevor's girlfriend attended the ceremony and he loved that. After the ceremony, we all went next door to Sonic for dinner:)
Alexis had a great idea for a present for a friend. Tammy, who stayed with us last weekend and we are going to their place 2 hours away this weekend, loved several of my recipes and asked for copies. Alexis had a man* cut two pieces of 9 x 12 quality leather and make 3 punch holes on one side. We are printing out about 25 of my favorite recipes onto 40 lb parchment paper. Then we are binding them between the leather covers with straps of leather. Is she crafty or what? I love that girl. She’s making me a journal the same way.
*So what do you call someone who works with leather, anyway? (I mean besides a dominatrix). A leather smith? A tanner? I dunno.

Congratulations to you and Trevor! Lots of dedications with these accomplishments. Now, about that cookbook...how would I go about getting one?
Best,
