Feeling Happy
Neighbors Like Walter & Ruby Set an Example for Us All
Our neighbors Walter and Ruby Sellars are the nicest people you'd ever want to know. Walter is 88 years old and his wife Ruby younger. Two weeks ago, Walter had angina, went to the hospital and received a stent. Three days later he was tilling the soil in his magnificent vegetable garden. Ruby makes a delicious Broccoli and Chicken Casserole. When we go to Ohio or Marathon, Fl. and elsewhere Walter comes over daily and feeds our pet "Liberty" the Golden Retriever. When we can't find Liberty we can bet he is visiting with Walter and Ruby and playing with little "Missy".
Today, as promised, I ventured over to Walter's and photographed his landscape, gardens and the area used for potting and growing cuttings. His projects are endless. His results are wonderful. He is a master at propagating from seedlings and cuttings. His propagation numbers are unbelievable. He has rows Gardenias, Roses, Hibiscus and rows of numerous other plants throughout. His magnificent Azaleas are legendary. An attractive home made trellis is covered with Jasmine.
The pictures tell the story better than I can say it. We are going to take a tour through the fantastic "at home nursery" that belongs to Walter and of course his lovely wife Ruby. Walter's knowledge of plants and propagating them is of the highest order. His advice is priceless. We are lucky to receive vegetables from their fabulous vegetable garden every summer. Walter has given me cuttings from his stock that are growing very well by our gate at the road.

I was particularly fond of their "bridal wreath" but I guess that's not surprising because I'm a romantic at heart. I've never seen that particular bush before and it was enchanting.
I almost want to tell you to give them a hug and a kiss from me to thank them for the loveliness they contribute to the earth by their presence and for their hard work in their lovely garden.
