i'll get around to this
Okay. I've jumped the blog bandwagon, and thus begins my foray into aol blogsphere. I promise that I'll make this cohesive at some point.
Yesterday was my birthday -- highlights:
-- Six Flags: i spent the day in pure white trash birfday style at six flags over dirty jersey. i'm not a big theme park person -- hadn't been since busch gardens in 10th grade. let me just say though. 6 flags makes anheiser busch gardens look like f*cking buckingham. but it was a roller coaster tastic ol' time. two thumbs up to the new superman roller coaster, where you ride the damn thing head-first on your freaking stomach. makes retching all the more convenient.
-- Dinner: Holy Basil on Second Avenue. Food and atmosphere -- 10/10.
-- Awesome present alert: Michelle got me an unopened copy of "Free to be You and Me" on vinyl, framed in one of those ingenious album frames. Also included: the freaking DVD. It was the best thing ever.
** Wednesday night -- extremely fun ventue into Staten Island -- the first time I'd stepped foot in that outer borough. Not only can I now say I've been to all of the boroughs, but I can also say that Staten Island doesn't deserve the shit it gets. The ferry ride is gorgeous, and they have a great minor league baseball stadium overlooking downtown Manhattan and the Statue of Liberty. Plus, their martinis are better than any I've had below the DMZ of 14th street.
** Celeb spotting alert: Maggie Gyllenhal on Rivington w/ boyfriend and giant sunflower.
** See this movie (possibly): "Camp." "A comedy about drama." About a summer theater camp for little theaterettes. There are glaringly horrendous aspects of this film, but the scene where a little red-headed white girl sings the lead in "Dreamgirls" had me falling out of my seat. This is "Revenge of the Nerds" for theater geeks.
** NY Times friend shout-out: A certain pal-o-mine got his nom in ink. Apparently the writer took SERIOUS liberties. Shocking!
** This weekend -- drinks @ magician, grandaddy Warsaw. Word.
