Natalie Portman's Vegan  Shoes

Wow, I wish I was good at posting photos so I could show the "V for Vendetta"' star's pumps.........they are something. (NEWSFLASH: Thanks to my friend Terry Williams we have the first photo image with an entry on this blog. It only took 600-plus entries to figure this out!)
(Perhaps, my sister Lale Lovell should take out a second mortgage and get herself a pair of them for her 34th birthday on St.Patrick's Day.)
Natalie Portman has been getting a considerable amount of attention lately.
Last year, she shed her clothes on-screen for the first time in a love scene for "Hotel Chevalier," Wes Anderson's prelude to "The Darjeeling Limited." Now, she is co-starring in "The Other Boleyn Girl" with 'some actress' from "Lost in Translation."
But, Portman is also launching a line of vegan shoes. Apparently, she is not attempting to be Charlie Chaplin (who ate a pair of shoes in his classic film "Gold Rush"), but rather she wants to wear hip heels which reflect her political sensibilities.
According to today's "Parade" magazine, Portman, who claims to 'have a little boy's body,' had problems finding chic shoes that were not made of leather. And, now that she has her own line, she wants other vegans to be able to wear 'her shoes.'
Her shoes are free of animal-products, and a pair of red Mary Janes will cost (get this!)_ $265. See, I wasn't kidding about the second mortgage!
(I guess this make them hard to find them at the Burlington, NC, K-Mart).
The site Shoebunny.com says that Portman has recently been wearing black ankle-drop sandals and classic black pumps with a pointed toe.
Of course, since I am not a transvestite, I guess I'll stick to my Nike basketball shoes, though perhaps it's time to seek out some Hush Puppies (which should retail for less than $265 at the Target in High Point, NC)  as I only have three pairs of shoes.

I'm assuming this is the norm for most 38-year-old, single males! Right guys?!
