I guess this topic brought about some introspective reflections.One of the first photographic journeys that I made was down the street to a quiet place on the Bayou. I had just aquired my Nikon D 70 and a 300mm zoom lens. I enjoyed the experience and learned a thing or two. Hope those that haven't seen these images before enjoy, those that have, may you like the trip back to a place that has changed since Katrina. It is unbelievable that Katrina wiped out the old Cypresses. The photo's were wonderful the second time I have seen them as I had not remembered how beautiful they were. It will take a hundred years for them to grow back to their former glory. Wishing you and your family a good Memorial Day, mark

Those Bayou pictures were haunting! How incredibly beautiful in that light! You did a marvelous job capturing them. I tried to paint a picture of a bayou right after Katrina, but I don't really think it was very good. Perhaps I should try another one with oils....
I can imagine how different everything feels without the trees, etc. Even Bok Sanctuary here in Florida was denuded by Charley 2 years ago. It will take so many years to get it all back. I hope all is going well in your world and that this season will prove uneventful.
