DOG TIRED

My azalea in the front yard.

I am so sore and tired I can hardly lift and move my fingers to type this.......Yesterday I helped Kelvin, and his mom, paint the underside of the house and also part of the front porch...My niece Charity and her husband Chris came over after church and helped also....

This is me and my shadow looking at the front porch I finished for Amanda. The temperature was in the 80's and there is no shade on the  porch yet, so it was really hot out there on her.....She did 98 % of it before her feet started swelling so bad, that I made her go  sit down and prop her feet up.

We worked up there from lunch til nightfall.....and at the end; Chris cooked us some hamburgers and hotdogs on a homemade grill...( Some concrete blocks, a wire oven rack with tin foil on it and ready to lite charcoal!) Boy that was a good supper...we were all starving by the time it was ready too.

So I was already tired from yesterday....but today I am truly worn out.....You see I did something today that I have put off for over two years....I cleaned out the old wood shed in my back yard.....The shed that Danny had so filled with stuff that I had to take the door off to get in there.

Danny was a " Let's keep it; we may need it someday " kind of person....He kept everything...

And after today; I sincerely believe that the man kept every nail, bolt and screw he had ever had since we married...and the squirrels WERE KIND ENOUGH TO SCATTER EVERY LAST ONE OF THEM ONTO  THE FLOOR!

Once; about ten years ago.....he let me get in that shed and clean it out for him....I had it so neat and organized....A year or so later, I kinda knew that he was cluttering it up again...and even offered to clean it out again for him..but he refused....and just kept saying "maybe next month....".well we never did get to "next month"...so I just stopped mentioning it.

Well......I got up this morning finally with the determination to tackle that shed....If I had known what I was getting into...I probably would have just burned it down. I started around 10:00 am and I finished around 8:00 pm. I still have some stuff laying in my yard that I will have to get rid of tomorrow. I made one trip to the recycle center today.

I had the intention to rent a dumpster from our trash collectors, but after I found out it would be 395.00 plus a delivery fee and a pickup fee.....I decided "No Can Do".

The rats and squirrels had been in the shed before me and they left thousands of eaten pecan hulls behind. The floor was covered with them and every time I made a step, it crunched loudly. I was so scared that I would run up on a rat. Dan got out there and helped me...if he hadn't I would still be out there.

I have been buying hoes, shovels, paint brushes, pans, rollers...and I found three hoes, three shovels, 4 new paint roller paint rolls, four paint rollers, and numerous other things that Danny never could find.

At one point, I broke down and just cried....I was so tired and every little thing reminded me of him...I have one more shed to go through...It won't be tomorrow because I have to take Amanda to her OBGYN....

I am hoping that this shed will not be as bad as this one was......

I am just glad that I finally got it done and  it is over for the time being.

GOD BLESS YOU ALL.

My goodness Carlene, you sure have got the spring fever bad this year.  I'm hoping I catch it soon, otherwise it'll be another three, four, ten years before the basement gets cleaned out!

The azalea is lovely.  I can imagine it was a difficult thing to clean out that shed.  I know how it would be hard to go & clean out Dougs garage, everything in there is part of him.  You have been working your butt off!!!  You need to take a day or two and rest now.

Your Azalea is beautiful...do they get very big and do they need sun or shade?  I would love to have one...with all those flowers
