- Do I even need to say who won the pole? Newman wins his 57286th pole in Nextel Cup, but pretty damn impressive to win 6 in a row at one track is dominant. But Newman still doesn't turn them into race wins. He won't win a championship until he does more of that. Top 5 runs Edwards, Sadler, Martin, Blaney.
- Mr. Insignificant: Morgan Shephard.
- Chase drivers qualifying results:
Stewart: 10th
Johnson: 12th
Newman: 1st
Biffle: 16th (ding ding ding! he matches his car number!)
Edwards: 2nd
Wallace: 35th
Martin: 4th
Busch: 30th
Kenseth: 23rd
Mayfield: 18th
- Why don't we run one of these Atlanta races at night? Fix this schedule, wouldn't it be much more fun to run a race during the day and a race at night at these tracks? Instead of 2 Charlotte night races, return the UAW-GM 500 to the day and put one of the Atlanta races at night.
