Final race this year for the NASCAR Busch Series. Martin Truex Jr. looks to do just like Dale Jr. and win back-to-back Busch titles before jumping to the Cup series next year. Just behind Truex is Clint Bowyer, the Matt Kenseth to Truex's Dale Jr. Bowyer sits 64 points behind Truex heading in to today. Maybe Clint will qualify at the front and make it interesting today. As was the case with Ted vs. Dennis, I think Clint will get close, but it won't be enough. Your 2005 Busch Series Champion, Martin Truex Jr.
I think this is the first time I've seen a ROTY battle that encompasses 3rd through 5th in the point standings with Edwards, Sorenson, and Hamlin. Of course, we know what Carl's done in Cup also. Carl could finish in the top 3 in the Nextel Cup and Busch Series Championship standings, that is one of the most amazing feats that I think any driver could do.
Greg Biffle has a hold on the 10th position in the points, and will compete in only 27 of the 35 races this year. But I think that says more for the lack of quality drivers in Busch than the season Greg's had there. J.J. Yeley and David Stremme will look to overcome a manageable deficit and get a trip to the banquet before they both jump to Cup next year.
And congratuations to Ted Musgrave, the 2005 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Champion. My full-season breakdowns will be posted next week.
