In response to Loveandafterglow's statement that "people are not born gay" I have to ask "How do you know this?"
One of the biggest debates about homosexuality for the past 20 years has been whether or not there is a genetic component. Although there's still no absolute proof either way, the circumstantial evidence to suggest that there is has grown dramatically in the past few years with several studies indicating:
If you have 1 or more older brothers, there's a higher likelihood you'll be gay
If one or both of your parents has a gay sibling, there's a higher likelihood
If your mother was over 40 when you were born, there's a higher likelihood
I firmly believe that a small percentage of the population is simply born gay and to hear people insist that this is ridiculous and to hear people implying that people are inferior because they're gay (which you definitely did when you expressed your outrage at the comparison) is absolutely appalling. You seem like a reasonable person but you express yourself badly, speaking with absolute certainty on a subject where currently there ARE no certainties. -
